New US soccer thread

right now Pulisic’s value on the market is 49.5 million. Dortmund sold him to Chelsea for 60 million. Chelsea isn’t going to want to take a loss and I don’t see anyone spending 60 million for him. So I don’t see him going anywhere.

That may be the case, but that's simply people not understanding the value of sunk costs. What they paid for Pulisic is, and forever will be, from the second that they signed him onward, immaterial to what his worth going forward is. If they determine that he's currently worth $40M and someone offers them $50M for him, the fact that they paid $60M for him doesn't matter, that would be a good deal.

In any event, after this year he's got two years left on his contract. Unless they want him possibly leaving on a free like they have so many other guys waiting to do right now, they are going to have to make a decision on him relatively soon.

I wonder how many jersey sales make up things? Wherever he would go is going to sell a lot of jerseys.

Yeah, that's one thing that we can't really know. But the team does, and if they want to take that into account in their player evaluations they certainly can and should.

But the point remains, if he's not worth what you are paying him he's not worth what you are paying him. The transfer fee doesn't change that once it's paid.

A possible landing spot if he were to be sold, Newcastle. No other reason than they're now owned by Arab Oil Money and they've been playing good and easily will stay up. This summer, I can't see $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ being spent by Newcastle.

Good god, I hope not.

And I would imagine that Newcastle will spend whatever amount of money they think is needed to put them on a path to the top of the table. I mean they already were the highest spending team in the world in a January window, just ahead of Juventus and nearly double third place Barcelona. So I think they'll do whatever they think they need to.

Chelsea to the Championship! Well we can only hope n dream!

FK, you'll like this. I put the Chelsea - Man U game on Sirius on the way home from work today to catch the score. It was early in the second half, and Timo Werner was caught offsides on a play. One of the game announcers says "Werner was born offsides."
I just laughed out loud. Literally. Very true.

We already lost Rudiger because of this ownership getting held up. And now Abromovich is holding up the sale because he wants the three bidders to up their bids 500 million for charity. If this drags out and chelsea are not going to be able to do transfer business, will Tuchel stay? It frustrates me that the conservative politicians in parliament have a thing against Roman and pushed for this sake. They must be Arsenal or spurs supporters. Maybe even Fulham like you ;).

we sold two academy defenders last year who are starting and excelling at a high level. We lost Rudiger. We lost Christensen to Barcelona, but he’s soft and nothing g more than a warm body. And Dave (Azpilicueta) is out of contract. Things could be a mess in a month.

Look like Britains richest man put in a late bid of 4.25 billion to buy the club. Should be a no brainer at this point to sell to him

I will say I hope this all gets sorted out. Honestly I wish this was happening to Man U instead. The disdain I have for that club is like no other. They are only a financial powerhouse, soccer wise they are very mediocre and not in the world power conversation. The fact that they were involved in that stupid Euro Super League is laughable.

Erik Ten Hag is gonna fail as well. They won't let him run things how he wants.

Actually I would imagine if they try to circumvent the process and sell the club to him that the lawsuits will start flying in about three minutes after the decision is made.
