The real issue facing Notre Dame in the pending playoff alignment is that they will always have to play an extra game to get to the promise land, but that top recruits will legitimately view ND football as second rate. Your views?

Are the first two rounds played at the higher seeded teams home field?

Exactly. College football playoff games played at home fields would be absolutely electric.Take the stupid bowls out and let the teams earn home field. A home playoff game would be off the charts!
A 9-3 Independent Notre Dame team will make the playoffs and have a chance at hosting a home game, if they win 10 or more they’ll be guaranteed a home game. In a conference they’d have to play someone like Clemson or Ohio State in a championship game, a loss would knock the out of the playoff unless they have 11 or 12 wins.ND is very happy with the new proposed playoff setup.
It doesn't get a 1-4 seed, nor a bye.
What it gets is 1) indy status cemented, 2) no CCG game (so wash w/bye), 3) great shot at one of six at large playoff slots, (see #1) and 4) a great shot at home playoff games in December most years.
Its a way better deal than ND has regarding the playoffs right now.
A 9-3 ND is either going to be left out or playing on the road.A 9-3 Independent Notre Dame team will make the playoffs and have a chance at hosting a home game, if they win 10 or more they’ll be guaranteed a home game. Can you imagine the atmosphere at a home college playoff game? (nothing against the FCS but this is the big boys) .... yikesExactly. College football playoff games played at home fields would be absolutely electric.
Join the ACC or deal with it. Their AD said playing that extra game replaces having to play a conference championship game. Makes sense. The real issue facing Notre Dame in the pending playoff alignment is that they will always have to play an extra game to get to the promise land, but that top recruits will legitimately view ND football as second rate. A 3 loss ND team will NEVER make the playoffs. Not in a million yearsA 9-3 Independent Notre Dame team will make the playoffs and have a chance at hosting a home game, if they win 10 or more they’ll be guaranteed a home game. That would be a safe bet.A 3 loss ND team will NEVER make the playoffs. Not in a million years
I doubt a 3 loss ND team would be ranked high enough to be included.A 9-3 Independent Notre Dame team will make the playoffs and have a chance at hosting a home game, if they win 10 or more they’ll be guaranteed a home game. Exactly they were 10-2 last year and finished at #5. ND always gets the nod.I doubt a 3 loss ND team would be ranked high enough to be included.
What happens to Noter Dame when (if) the conference championship games are eliminated?
A ND home playoff game will more than likely generate more NBC TV money for ND. They are very happy with having to play an extra home playoff game.
Espn would probably air it as they'd probably reup the rights to the playoffA ND home playoff game will more than likely generate more NBC TV money for ND. They are very happy with having to play an extra home playoff game.
The current proposal has the bye teams playing at a neutral site in the next round.
Don't think they will be eliminated. They make a lot of money for the conference. What I can see eliminated are divisions if the power 5 sign off on changing the current division rulesWhat happens to Noter Dame when (if) the conference championship games are eliminated?
The first 4 teams should receive a bye and a home game. There will be more incentive for playing a tougher non conference schedule and making the regular season more meaningful. It won't be long before teams 1-4 are crying that they're losing out on home game revenues, unless there is some agreement where the money is getting split up.
All of that would have to be negotiated, including NBC's rights to ND home games.Espn would probably air it as they'd probably reup the rights to the playoff
that's my biggest take away from this, as a fan. home playoff games. should be great. would love to see even the second round have the higher seed host it and just do the NC game at a neutral site..Take the stupid bowls out and let the teams earn home field. A home playoff game would be off the charts!

so if ND gets a home playoff game, that doesnt go to NBC?The playoffs are a separate entity and outside of the scope of nds NBC deal.
But you are correct that it could go to the open market and multiple networks could buy in. But my guess is espn will strike a deal during before their exclusive window closes on the current deal.
A 9-3 Notre Dame team will get in over most P5 schools who are 10-2, remember this is college football so it doesn't have to make sense or be fair. Notre Dame brings in eyeballs and the Irish along with schools like Alabama, Ohio State and Texas will get in as an at-large with 3 losses.A 3 loss ND team will NEVER make the playoffs. Not in a million years
a 3 loss ND team is still probably better than a 10-2 P5 team based on the schedule. not an ND Fan by any stretch here but take into consideration the schedules. a P5 team seems to always have the FCS exhibition rent-a-win and sometimes even 2, or if not, some garbage low level d1 games (like pitt this year that has two)..A 9-3 Notre Dame team will get in over most P5 schools who are 10-2, remember this is college football so it doesn't have to make sense or be fair. Because they are nice guys. Why would a game on ESPN generate money from NBC?
so if ND gets a home playoff game, that doesnt go to NBC?
Yes, because the rights to those games would be owned by the CFP, not the individual schools.so if ND gets a home playoff game, that doesnt go to NBC?
yeah, im missing something cause i think so too. they are in good shape and dont have to play a conference championship game. i get it, they cant get a top 1- 4 seed but other than that, they are sitting very pretty with this new proposal and will find themselves in the playoffs more often than not.Seems to me this benefits, the Domers. No question.
These 12 teams are essentially replacing the New Year's 6 Bowl 12 teams. How many 3 loss teams have gotten at-large NY6 bowl games?A 9-3 Notre Dame team will get in over most P5 schools who are 10-2, remember this is college football so it doesn't have to make sense or be fair.
