Now that PSU "Pennstated", will they fall next year?

I like the fact that Stache can at least admit he is wearing the Pitt colored glasses.

It's hard to get a feel for next year. We lose a lot offensively and until I see improvement, its hard to be too optimistic. On the other hand, many opponents are losing a lot of key players too.

Why wouldnt I? I am a Pitt fan.

I am always cautiously optimistic... against many years of being beat down by reality :)

Good answer :)

I think we may have found out why that td can't see the obvious with his think big10/penn state glasses.

Haha. I went from optimistic, to pessimest, to optimisit, to cautiously optimistic, to cynical and jaded, to cautiously optimistic... to whatever it is I am now. (call it whatever you want, but be nice!)

I see a let down. They played a weak schedule, and their only 'signature' wins (OSU and WISKY), the former was shown to be not so signature, and the second was against a team without their QB.

I can see us pulling out the upset at their house. They will be favored.

Sorry, but use of the term "Pennstated" doesn't describe what occurred in the Rose Bowl. The definition of "pennstated" is a million times worse than choking in a football game.

Speaking of penn state glasses, I think just his name is Adam Bittner, writer for psu, said today on Twitter that Godwin decided to go pro because with all the talent at psu that Godwin would have gotten the ball less. So he left early due to competition.

The psu writer said: Penn state has more competition than the NFL does. That is completely crazy. You can't make that stuff up. Those crazy cultists actually believe this kinda thing.

Lol. Yeah, you would absolutely plan your game around getting the ball LESS to your NFL ready receiver. They would just use him as a decoy to throw more to their RS freshman or sophomores. Makes sense to me!!!

It can't be stupidity. They must actually believe this stuff

I know he has some peaceful back and forths with certain Pitt people on Twitter and supposedly can be rough on PSU at times... but from reading his tweets, make no mistake about it, he's a pure Nitter through and through.

Yeah, I kinda like his wit, just over the top when it comes to defending the nitwits

So, you said er, what? to me saying McSorely isnt a superstar? Are you that much of a homer to think he is that great? Or do you actually think Penn State's defense, which gave up nearly 400 yards rushing to Pitt is that good? Which is it?

I think he was referring to the comparison between the two defenses.

Define superstar? I don't think McSorely will translate well to the NFL, but as a college QB, yeah he's a superstar. His stats back that up.

WOW...

How does one even go from there. You are beyond nuts.

OK, so Nate Peterman, 27 td, 7 int, and a 163.8 passer rating.
McSorley, 29 TD, 8 int and 159 passer rating...

I would never call Nate Peterman a superstar, or at least I wouldnt without fear that someone will trowel my frontal lobes out and put me in a rounded, padded room. And here is you calling your QB a super star...

Well, happy superstar threw a dumb pick at the end of our game.

Penn State has a great team returning. It is obvious they got better as the season went along. They have what I feel is the best player in college football returning in Barkley, he is a gamebreaker/difference maker.

That being said, PSU was picked 4th in their division this year. Nowhere near the top 25. James Franklin's Vandy teams also were complete underdogs. They now will be ranked in every preseason top 10 poll, in some polls even top 5. They are now the hunted, the favorite. Sometimes the dynamics change. We shall see. I know this, we beat them next year, it is a much bigger win, not just being up there, but we beat them, we completely derail their season and plans and things could go off the rails for them.

This post is not intended to offend anyone, even Penn State fans, it is just my opinion based on the facts presented.

why do you say "we" when referring to Pitt? You are a Penn State homor.

Seems you're short changing your own QB. Peterman had a terrific year as did the entire Pitt offense.

I think Penn Staters would rather be in the position of having the target on them than not.

The Nitters will be 9-3 or 8-4 next year!
McSorley is out of luck throwing up the "hail Mary and Joseph" passes and having someone track it down.
The BIG will be out to make the Nitters pay.
Frankie Football will be on the hotseat again!
OC Joe Wh-rehouse wont have the same season in 2017.

It's well thought out posts like this that make life fun. :)

short changing???

You called him a SUPERSTAR!

He had a good year against mediocre talent (your QB). I do think Peterman is far better than your QB.

We will not have the offense next year as this year, but could certainly still be successful. Our line will be slightly worse, and our RBs will be good, but slightly worse. You wouldthink the QB is slightly worse, but who knows. And WR should be slightly better, TE slightly better.

On Defense, all around we should be a bit better.

I feel like next year will be a step back for Pitt with the year after being the year for them to prove it. Losing Biz and DJ is going to do much harm to our offensive production. When Pitt would start to go soft and fall apart, there were several times when JC put everyone on his back. He is gone too. NP was a very good college QB and the USC kid has a good pedigree but buckled under the lights when he got his shot before. We also have no idea who will be calling plays. The secondary has to be better (can it be worse?) but replacing the production we got from Price will not be easy. That kid was a playmaker.

Our schedule again is too hard for the talent we have on this team. Yes, we can win a game against a Clemson or a Penn State but we haven't been able to win tough games in back to back weeks anytime in the last 30 years. I'm sure the conference will screw us again with a tough game to start the ACC schedule after playing PSU and OSU in b2b weeks like they made us go to UNC (the preseason Coastal favorite) this year in the same scenario.

Lastly, we were very fortunate last season with injuries, particularly in the trenches. This goes against what we've experienced the last few years and I wouldn't be surprised if we are left trying to plug holes with guys not ready for prime time.
