All P5 teams opening the season on a Thursday night against a 1AA or G5 team.

With Penn State the next week, I think we should have played YSU on Thursday at 7 instead of Saturday at noon. Ribfest would still be there, noon sucks just as bad as a weeknight, and we get 2 extra days to rest and prepare for PSU.

Odd title to this post.

The pitt ysu game is scheduled to start at 1pm. Playing Thursday night draws even fewer fans than Saturday afternoons.

I may be in the minority, but I still like Saturday afternoon college football games. This is especially so when the game is played in comfortable weather.

Agreed!

Get through YSU game without showing anything special, win game handily, get some work for some backups and no injuries.

PSU will run barkley to set up the passing game.

Not sure it takes more than five days to prep for Penn State. Not like their offense or defense is any kind of a mystery.

no to thur night games. I too hate noon Saturday games but they are lesser of two evils with the thur night home games. Add in YSU as the opponent and you are asking for a disaster from an attendance standpoint.

Would love to see a 3:30pm/6pm kickoff time for this labor day game but we seem to always have a conflict with the buccos. Chalk this up to bad luck with not too many options..

It would also be nice if we could avoid a conflict with the pens on one the thursday night game this year.

Good point! Pitt playing in a major sports town requires more thought and navigation than rural state schools where is really nothing else to do. I personally don't care what time/day we play.

Attendance is gravy in the era of everything televised and everyone with man caves and 72 inch mega HD tv's. It's only a real problem because the Pittsburgh media harps on it thanks to it being the one thing PSU "wins" on. Sales are more important. And we sell a lot of tickets. We'd like to sell them for higher donating levels than we can now, but winning would cure that.

Don't cave to the crap that aholes like Ron Cook and this new generation of cultist Fan commentators spread to pump up their adored PSU. 40000 for a regular game is a solid crowd.

That all said, I dislike Thursday games over Saturday in general. But I'd adjust to either. I don't think 2 days more will have them any better ready for PSU though. They should have been game planning for that game since the Pinstripe Bowl ended.

I would not be disappointed if Pitt never played in a Thursday night game ever again.
I don't mind them IF they are away. You get a prime time feel to it, good start to the weekend.. but yeah, im with you on these home thur night games.
