OT... Bakeries...

OK.....BTW, I had lunch at a Chick-Fila today. Place was jammed. Great service, good food (no fast food is great). The haters who complained about the owners being Christians sparked tremendous growth....They're bigger than Burger King these days. The drive thru at this place had about 20 cars lined up. Aberdeen, MD.
It's the same anywhere you go.
NYCity and it's socialist mayor fought to block Chick-fil-a and as it turns out the lines to get in one of the stores is around the block on a daily basis.
There's five locations in the NYCity area and this one.

I don't like that either. Just people eat where you want to eat cause it is good, shop where you want to shop because it makes sense. I hate people bringing politics and beliefs into everything.

100% agreement. It's not likely that you'll see a Chuck Mansion Pierogi Shop franchise. BUT...if a local scumbag has a business, just don't patronize it.

It isn’t “fast food” if you have to wait 15 mins for it. You might as well get legitimately good food elsewhere.

Interestingly, they will not open in Mercedes-Benz for the Super Bowl since it is a Sunday.

I personally am not a huge fan (not a big fast food consumer in general), but I do love their Splenda lemonade. I know my kids love their shakes.

You wait for it because it's good fast food.
People like it and are willing to wait for the great Chick-fil- a food items.
It's in demand or people would go elsewhere but they don't.

Go on Sunday you'll be first in line.

Actually not only is the food good but they move the lines fast too!

If you want fast, fast, food go to Long John Silvers you'll be first in line for the Mystery Fish Samwich anytime of the day??

I’ve eaten it numerous times, and it isn’t all that. It definitely isn’t worth waiting for. If we do get it, then my wife orders it ahead of time and then picks it up while the fools wait in line.

Popeye, Zaxby, Church’s and Bojangles are better.

I am always intrigued by the Zaxby and Bojangles commercials during our game and hope they "come north" someday. Never tried.

But we have a couple Popeyes here, and ... ugh. Not only is Chik-fil-a chicken better IMO, I'll go as far to say Giant Eagle fried chicken is better.

Popeyes is better than KFC though...KFC is sickeningly greasy and literally nauseates me if I eat it. I think KFC would be my very last choice for take out of any variety.

Literally, today....we placed our orders, turned to get condiments, straws, etc., took one step towards a table and the server put the food down before we sat. Compare this to the often surly service at the Clown.....in a much messier store, and there's no surprise. These guys are the best IMHO. We only do fast food a couple times a year....haven't had a McD's burger in maybe 15 years??

Mrs Buffett and I go there often for take out orders.

As you said they deal with a lot of orders, they take your order with a smile, you turn around to wait and before you know it someone is handing you your order asking you if you need anything else.
Before we got to the door a manager is opening the door asking us if everything went ok and can we get you anything else.

On that visit I went back to compliment the young man who took our order, and gave us the food.
I told the manager how he took our order, fast, efficient, with a smile on a busy day. The manager said all employees are like that or they become customers not employee's.

The manager explained the young man / employee who took our order happened to be a HS boy from the inner city involved in a Chick fil a inner city training program that they have in all restaurants.

In my opinion the young man is on his way to success.

Wow!

The next time you're in North Carolina, try Smithfield's Chicken 'n bbq.

If I eat fast food, this is usually where I end up. Although Bojangles is okay if there's no Smithfield's around.

The South has lots of local and regional places that are great.

When I was working we had a location in Mobile Al.
The best "place", best seafood, soups, and fried stuff, in town was a place where the current owners took over an abandoned building and created a restaurant. In the beginning they were illegal squatters. The owners never made claim to the building it was deemed abandoned by the city and became the property of the current owners who run one of the best places in Mobile AL.

I worked in the mill in the 60’s. The mill workers on south side always said Primantis sandwiches were due to mill workers getting meal they could eat while standing up since there were no seats or tables there. Sandwich in one hand, drink in the other.

Seems implausible to me. At that time, there was only the location in the Strip. No mills near there, were there? Truck drivers at the produce warehouses in the Strip is what I have always heard.

For those of us in the North Hills, my favorite for birthday cakes is Dudt's. Nothing beats their frosting. Also their donuts are terrific. Dangerously so.

Dudt's in Wexford, yes?. Don't know if it's still there, but there was also a Dudt's in Duncan Manor, but it wasn't the same, nor as good. Dudt's in Wexford has bomb doughnuts.
The two Dudt’s bakeries were known as the good Dudt’s (Wexford) & the bad Dudt’s (Duncan Manor). Every week I get doughnuts for my mother & wouldn’t dare buying them from the bad Dudt’s even though it was minutes from my house.

Zaxby is very good...Popeye and Bojangles really aren’t better than Chic imo, but Bojangle biscuits are the bomb.

Chick-fil-A is the ONLY fast food place where it is hot and good every... single... time. I couldn't care less what their politics and religious views are. In fact, I enjoy when a liberal friend or collegue is bothered by me eating there and they can't resist commenting about it. And I am pretty liberal. Usualluy I will tell them that if they want fewer people going to Chick-fil-A, then other fast food places should improve. Not hard.

Change that to tofu and I’m not sure it wouldn’t be a hit in SoCal tent cities.
