I never got the chance to see this movie in the theater but rented and watched it tonight. Wow. What a movie. It has vaulted to the top of my list for 2015 so far, BY far. It's a slow time besides the Pirates, so if you're interested go rent it. And if you do, watch the special features where the director explains how the movie was made.

Yup...really interesting movie! I liked it

Pitt girl, what is the movie about? Thanks,
It's science fiction about a programmer who works at the world's top internet search engine company and wins a lottery to spend a week at the reclusive founder's home helping with some research. No big special effects or anything (well, a little), just a great story with fantastic acting. (BTW - definitely a movie for adults. No kiddies.)

It's about this IT billionaire type genius, sort of like a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates trying to invent realistic AI androids, and of course it goes wrong. It's a very good movie.

pitt-girl,

Ex Machina is great. Another one that is similar (not as SCI-FI) that flew under the radar was I Origins. Check it out if you get a chance. Should be on-demand, apple TV, etc.

Always enjoy your movie posts by the way!

A friend just told me the same thing about I Origins recently. I am definitely going to check it out. (Appreciate the sentiments btw. I always wonder if posters are annoyed with OT movie threads, so I try to only post when something really gets my attention.)

Bought it yesterday. Liked it a lot. Pitt girl, since you are the movie buff, another lower budget film I really liked was predestination with Ethan hawke

Ratking - when was that in the theaters? Is that even available to rent/buy yet? I had read that the female lead actress was terrific.

So I took your advice and we watched I Origins tonight. Well, actually I watched it 1 1/2 times, as I immediately rewatched the first half of the movie again, since I understood so much more by the end. You are right - it is a fabulous movie. Definitely sci-fi, but as Ex Machina was kind of creepy sci-fi, I Origins was absolutely lovely. Thanks for the recommendation.

We just watched it this weekend. It was a great movie. Won't talk about anything that might be a spoiler but it was much better than I was expecting. Didn't really hear much hype originally but now it seems like it is really picking up. So yeah, everyone should watch it.
