I was fortunate to see Roberto play hundreds of times. My family held season tickets from 1958 through the early 80's, and there were seasons when I saw 50 home games. I was there when he got his 3,000th hit. Regardless of the score, I never left a game early if Roberto was still playing. I loved the man...as a ballplayer, but more importantly, as a good and honorable human being. He was baseball royalty in the best sense of the term. Ballplayers today would profit by his example. Rest in Peace Roberto.
