OT: Hafley is the new BC coach

Hafley is a good recruiter but his resume does not scream P5 HC. A bit of reach by BC. He will have to assemble a very good staff.

Narduzzi was far more qualified when Pitt hired him.
BC is where head coaching careers go to die. Take a look at the list since O’Brien. Not pretty.

As with Pitt, joining the ACC as a smallish northeast football school has not worked out very well.

I didn’t think Fickell at Cincy was going to be a good HC either, but he’s got that program rolling. I think Fickell is going to be an outstanding P5 HC soon.

I agree re Fickell, but there is a big difference from being the HC at Cincinnati and being the HC at Boston College.

Hafley has no head coaching experience and very little experience as a P5 coordinator.

Hadley has no head coaching experience and very little experience as a P5 coordinator.

He was an NFL position coach for a decade. As long as he recruits well, which he will, he will be fine. I predict a Top 25 class next year for BC

I agree, it is going to be critical for him to hire the right assistants to get that ship turned around. But if he does hire the right assistants, watch out.

Seems to be a larger influx of Canadian prospects into CFB lately. He most likely may look northward along with his old NJ stomping grounds. Flutie and the yearly ND rivalry has kept the school relevant to an extent that he's not starting at ground zero. And I know Kids these days weren't around when Flutie played but parents were and he's kept his legendary face and play in commercials and such. Can only hurt NJ recruiting for Pitt.

NFL position coach is a nearly worthless credential on a college head coach resume.

BC will be doing really well to bring in a class ranked in the 40s. Top 25 is a pipe dream.

That is delusional. No matter how good of a recruiter Hafley is, he isnt getting a Top 25 class to BC. Just plain delusional

Neither of which matters. He's a leader and a get it done kind of guy. Plus he recruits like a demon.
BC did very well.

Outside of Clemmings and Graham who were the blue-chip players he got out of Jersey?
He was at Pitt for 4 seasons as a DB coach and got these two plus Bryan Murphy and would have had Bill Belton and Marquise Wright. And so believe he was also involved with recruiting Shilique Calhoun who ebdes up as a stud for MSU. That would have been five 4 star recruits for one defensive back coach. At Pitt.
