I think k she is trying to have fun with her life and she is bringing along a ton of kids who absolutely adore her whether the kids are gay or straight.

I really like her album. I'm not so concerned about her persona, even if it's just a gimmick.
I think she’s talented, has a really strong stage presence, and is in the unique position of having a debut album and having basically unlimited creative freedom now. I also think her whole creative project is cool, and something that’s a positive and necessary thing to put into the world right now. But with creative freedom means some bumps in the road, and I’m curious to see how she handles it when one of her creative visions doesn’t resonate with people, because it’s going to happen eventually.
I also think she, like many in her generation, gets all of her news and information about national and global affairs from TikTok, which is questionable enough when you aren’t in the public eye, but can be troublesome when you both have a lot of influence and also have no issues talking off the cuff.
She’s good, though. I don’t think it’s an authenticity issue, but more of an artist who blasted onto the scene very suddenly and it’s been a rocky road to adjust to that. The album’s got bangers all the way through, though. She’s earned what she’s gotten.

Listening to her album as an adult reminds me of the first time I screamed out Bowie’s “Wham, bam, thank you m’aam” line with my mom in the same room. As an adult she was a bit shocked to hear the line as I kind of was hearing some of Chappell’s lyrics. But I was shocked and laughing that she had the balls to sing that. lol.

I think it’s funny how whatever record label she was signed with was like, “sorry, Pink Pony Club is too gay for us, we’re out.” And her response was “fine! I’ll make my songs twice as gay! And I’ll make the spiritual successor to YMCA that will be played at every sports venue in the country!”
Like, kudos to her for betting on herself, doubling down and having it work. I just wish she would get her news from somewhere that isn’t TikTok.

Anyway, the "A Minor" line is maybe the coldest in the history of music.

Kendrick Lamar is more of an artist than rapper like Common. Both are brilliant but their songs largely don't crossover into the mainstream which is why there's only 2 that a good portion of America knew.

Speaking of halftimes....the frisbee dogs at the Pitt-Clemson basketball game last week was pretty good and the highlight of the game.
