I’m sitting watching the 2009 Stanley Cup Final on NBC. I had me thinking, I’ve seen all 5 Penguin championships. I’m in my late 40’s so I don’t remember the first two steeler Super Bowls in 75/76 but I did see 4 super bowl championships overall. I was too young in 1976 to remember the Pitt national title. So my grand total of championships that I have seen my teams win are :

Penguins 5
Steelers 4
Pirates 1
Chelsea 3 Premier Leagues and 1 Champions League
—————
14 titles

I was a lakers fan as a kid, but I don’t count those titles in the 80’s because I haven’t been a laker fan for 25 years. Additionally, my favorite teams later in life were my kids club and HS state teams but I am not counting those titles either.

so I’ve seen 14 titles pro/college titles for an average of 1 title every 3.5 years.

So I’d say I’m fairly blessed. How about you?

For me, born in 1959 I remember...

Pirates 2 WS
Steelers 6 SB
Penguins 5 SC
Pitt 1 NC
Chicago Bulls 6 NBA ( I became a Bulls fan in the '70s, way before Jordan)
Greece 1 EuroCup soccer, 3 EuroCup basketball

This is leaving out various "lesser leagues" like Baltimore Blast indoor soccer who have 4 since I've been a fan, and Olympiacos Greek basketball and soccer, who have dozens of various titles, including 3-4 EuroBasket titles, over 40 soccer Superleague title.

So USA Major League only, I'm at least at 20

I like to count Pitt's BE basketball titles too :)

As 53 year old Pittsburgh born and bred native, pretty god damn blessed. I vaguely remember the 1971 World Series. l remember all 4 Super Bowls. Back then, obviously the last 2 moreso. Also the 79 World Series champs. I don't really remember much about the 1976 Pitt team, but that is what got me really interested and remembering all the highlight films leading into the 1977 season. So kinda. And obviously the Pens, I was like 9 years old and saw the Pens blow Game 7 and a 3-0 game lead to the Isles in 75.

I saw Mario's 1st home game. Live. As I said in other threads, I sat next to his parents during the 1990 All Star game. I saw Coffey's first game. I saw Game 1's of the 91 and 92 Cup season.

I know this is about "live".......

But really......
6 Super Bowl Titles, 8 Super Bowls, 15 AFC Conference Champ games
All of those Hall of Famers....
5 Stanley Cups, 6 Cup Finals, 8 Conference Finals, and my god, I seen 3 of the 10 best Hockey Players of all time play the primes of their careers here.
2 World Series. I was actually at every home playoff game 90-92.
2 BET Titles, 3 Big East Reg seasons, and 2 #1 seeds, and that great decade.
1 NCAA title. All of those great Hall of Famers both college and Pro.
Oh and as an edit, I was a huge, huge Doctor J fan. So just being a fan of someone so awesome is a win!

Pretty pretty damn lucky and spoiled and I will take my last 50 years pretty much against anyone elses outside of those Boston pricks.

Just missed the Pens winning back-to-back in 91 and 92. I’ve seen two Super Bowls championships and three Stanley Cup championships.

I still consider myself pretty blessed having seen nearly half a dozen championships. We moved to Kansas City for a work a couple years ago and most people here have only seen a World Series and, just a couple months ago, a Super Bowl.

Hoping one day I can add a World Series to that list!

I'm damned blessed:

3 World Series titles
6 Super Bowl titles - 8 AFC Conference titles
5 Stanley Cups
1 College Football National Championship
1 ABA Basketball Title (People forget this one) 1968 ABA Basketball Championship - Pittsburgh Pipers

Good point re: the Pipers. I wonder if they would’ve made the merger had they never moved to Minnesota.

I go back to the 60 pirates. Was at the Rens ABL championship. Saw all Pitt championships. Was at all Pens championships. Saw all super bowls. Attended all Pirate World Series. Not the one in early 1900’s.

Pleasantly surprised to see the honesty. Thought there'd be a few Duke/GSW/Astros fans

You are like me, but, I wasn't a Pirate fan in 1979.I've been a Pirate and Pitt fan since 1988.Steeler fan since 1978 and Pens fan since 1990.

In my lifetime I have seen 3 World series Titles. 6 Super bowl titles. 5 Stanley cups. And a National Championship in football.

That's 15 ultimate titles in my go to sports. Sometimes when I get down after one of my teams loses a big game I think about how lucky I have been. I could have grown up in Cleveland.

The funny thing is the best team ever in each of my sports didn't win it all
'76 Steelers
'72 Pirates
'80 Panthers
'93 Pens

As someone who wasn’t alive then, can you explain why those 1980 Panthers only made it to the Gator Bowl and not one of the major bowl games?

All this, except I do remember the 71 series.

I'm not a hockey fan, so I can't count those Penguins championships as my team winning it all.

I guess I'm kind of torn with the Steelers. I started watching in the 80s, so I missed the first four titles. On one hand, they've been one of the better teams in football for the time I've been watching... on the other hand, it seemed like they should have more than two titles in that time. There are teams who perpetually suck and then come out of nowhere to win one or two titles. Still, I guess I need to appreciate the two they do have (see: Buffalo) and the fact that they're in contention almost every year.

But then when you factor in Pitt and the Pirates, I guess I feel like my rewards as a fan have been pretty average. Could be better or worse.

I grew up in the Florida panhandle so my team selection was a little odd as there wasn't really any pro allegiance there. It was FSU 24/7.

NFL: Packers in 96 and 2010
NBA: Rockets in 94 and 95 (followed because Sam Cassell was my favorite FSU bball star growing up)
NHL: Penguins in 09, 16, 17 (though I'm a casual hockey fan)
MLB: Phillies in 08 (a Pirates fan now)
College: FSU in 93 (they stopped being my favorite team when I got to Pitt in 97)

Pitt and Ohio State grad

Steelers 6
Pirates 3 (was in crib for 60, but my parents went to game 7)
Penguins 5
Ohio State 2
Pitt 1
Little League Champs 1
Babe Ruth League Champs 1
Parochial League Baseball champs 2

Not very, lol

Redskins
Capitals
Orioles
Pitt

Saw the Redskins win 3 Super Bowls as a kid, but since Snyder bought the team over 20 years ago they’ve been damned to eternal mediocrity. Capitals are perennial choke artists but they did win a Cup two years ago. Orioles last won a WS in ‘83, i was alive but too young to remember, and they’ve pretty much stunk ever since. And we all know about Pitt sports.

They should have played in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia but the Dawgs wanted no part and chose Notre Dame instead. That's not how the Sugar Bowl publicly said it went but that is basically what happened.

I recall when Snyder bought the team the COO of the company I worked for (he a sycophant for the brilliant but scattered brain CEO) got on my case when I doubted Snyder would know what to do with an NFL team. My point was that it is next to impossible to intimidate millionaires on and off the field.
Years later, the COO and CEO drove the company out of business by going into the UAE without an exit strategy.
The point is that money might make people pay more attention to you, but it doesn't make you smarter.

1 ABA Basketball Title (People forget this one) 1968 ABA Basketball Championship - Pittsburgh Pipers

The thing about that is, I'm old enough to remember, if there was something to remember! I was really into basketball at the time too, playing on my elementary school team, Jr. Hi etc. But I don't think I ever saw a Pipers/Condors game! I don't remember them ever being on TV much, if at all.
