The reality is that female college athletes are not marketable unless they are generational talents (the Iowa bball player) or are very attractive. To be fair, male college athletes arent very marketable either.

To be fair (and Dunne mentions this), there are not professional sporting opportunities for many women athletes. Good for her for making bank while she can. And as for being scantily clad, her competition uniform makes her scantily clad. A true revolutionary coach would change that to long sleeves and leggings.
I had to google her name (which also proves the point). Caitlin Clark. Nike signed her and you almost never see a legit company signing a college athlete. But there is the idea she may be an all-time great so better to sign her now than before she hits the WNBA. Nike signed 5-6 college basketball players but its because they are forecasting what they become worth when they hit the NBA/WNBA.

There will be 10 or so college athletes who will sign legit NIL deals with national companies. They have to have the marketability towards the general masses. She is one. Caitlin Clark is another. Bryce Young and CJ Stroud are 2 more. The rest of the NIL deals are pay for play booster salaries or some local restaurant paying a player $2000 to appear in some ads.
