Speaking of Madden, and this post about the attractiveness of athletes, reminds me of one of the few relevant things he said. A caller once asked when will soccer ever become more popular in the USA and he replied when the captains of the high school soccer team start banging the hottest cheerleader rather than the quarterback of the football team, then soccer will attract better athletes and become more popular.

A lot of guys got scapegoated for the Steelers in recent years of failure, and he was definitely one. I’m in a cocoon, not paying much attention to what happens in every NFL city (any but this one, really) so perhaps it is true everywhere but we definitely are unique in that the HC is largely immune (take it easy apologists, Cowher was mostly exempt as well). Nearly ALL the coaches were exempt as well, pretty much up to the last couple years, but now the coordinators at least get somewhat included (more the OC than DC), but there are definitely select players chosen to bear media brunt year by year. JJSS was certainly one. I definitely wish he were here for Pickett now, considering the other receivers are inconsistent hacks. Honestly they should convert Harris back to a slot receiver.

Same thing happened with Conner. JJSS became the primary poster child for the bad passing game, whereas Conner became the poster child for the bad running game, because they needed scapegoats that didn’t include sacred cows. Well, yea, the worst gymnast on the team will make more than the best, who may be an All-American if the worst one is super attractive. And again, this is part of what the Stanford coach is saying and she's really not wrong for insinuating its demeaning to women because they are being paid for their looks as opposed to athletic achievements

Seriously, as far as your question, the answer Is obvious. Nobody cares about those sports, nobody. The government forced universities to offer them to counter the men’s revenue sports that people do care about. It’s just how it is. So the only appeal for NIL purposes will come from their looks.
It’s not to say there aren’t male athletes popular for their looks as well. My wife really doesn’t care about football and especially not teams other than the Steelers, but loves Jimmy Garropolo, and guess why. But besides looks, he also has general popularity as a decent NFL QB. People are generally aware of his sports accomplishments. He likely would have followers even if he had the face of Big Ben. Conversely I will never, ever, ever be aware of Andreaa Whozit’s swimming records but will certainly be on the lookout for more pictorals, I mean, journalistic articles about her in the future.

If I were judged on my looks I would have paid the company. But to pay this chick because she's fission hot demeans all women. Just ask any homely teammate.
