Book is about the formation of the NFL and Art Rooney was one of the main five guys focused on by the author. Very interesting. A lot of the discussion was about how the Steelers suffered for popularity due to the dominance of Pitt under Jock Sutherland. Also Duquesne and Carnegie Tech had outstanding teams as well.
Pitt was like Alabama back then and the book said a National newspaper asked if Pitt could beat an NFL team and 48% of the respondents said yes.
Jock Sutherland left Pitt at the peak of its dominance because the school Administration were becoming concerned that Pitt was becoming too focused on Football and not academics. They then changed the standards and Sutherland left.
That seems about the same thing that happened after Majors and Sherrill resurrected Pitt. Bonehead scholars. LOL
