Stanford has a ton of NIL issues with football and basketball. I doubt she is going there for money.
Pitt needs to use more of their NIL dollars on volleyball and soccer before it gets 'fixed' and the traditional powers figure out a way stop a school like Pitt from having a chance. They have zero chance in football, so might as well win something now when they can.

Soccer is growing in popularity ... it would be hard to argue with going all-in on that sport. Heck, Vermont won the National Championship, if they can do it, I don't see why we can't.

Just do it. Does Pitt even have to report the numbers? Put a big chunk into volleyball and men's soccer. It would be a steal.

They can put it towards football and barely make a difference, or put more towards volleyball and soccer and make a huge difference. I don't care either way. Not invested. Just pointing out the obvious reality.

National champs at soccer or volleyball will look a lot better then going 7-5 and playing a bowl game in Detroit vs. going 6-6 and playing a bowl game in Detroit.

It almost requires a re-definition of the word to describe Pitt football as "relevant."
I mean, there isn't a legit reason for anyone to wait that long to offer her so I don't think some club in Italy decided over the weekend that they suddenly wanted her. Would depend on what league and where to even make it worth it. I think the rumors are there because almost everyone believes she is on track to play in the olympics in 2028 but that a year or two of pro ball in Europe would be ideal. I think it will be next year, if it happens. She's still pretty young but I don't think there is anyone questioning whether she could be successful or not.

Talked about this on the Olympic sports board yesterday and I’ve been wondering about this. Around the world, football (soccer) is king. In Europe, even more so. Women playing European football for the biggest clubs in the world like Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, aren’t making anywhere near that kind of coin. It’s why many of the worlds greats play in the NPSL here domestically and make little money.
Is it possible that women’s football lags behind women’s volleyball in Europe even though men’s football trumps everything x 100?
The numbers cited on the Vball talk forum linked here don’t compute.
One of the reasons PVF was able to lure American players home was because they paid better than Europe. 2025 salaries are $60-$175k with some incentives and bonuses for winning. I heard Eric Shoji say that NIL is better at some places than what pros make in Europe. And yeah, the best of the best can make a million per year but is a college sophomore going to get that over a seasoned pro?
