Pitt season is over as PSU & WVU have at least 1 more game before all go Bowling. The game is also Former Pitt Coach Chryst! This is an interesting game a Wisky Balance Attack against good Penn State Defense with top DBs, solid LBs, and New Improved DLs. Add in a Wisconsin Defense with a great DLs and DBs too, against McSorley and his Wideouts, with enough running to keep it honest. Few think Penn State can win, but that is how upset happen? Add in the CFB Committee Trashing the Big Ten Conference Champions Penn State or Wisconsin do not belong ahead of their beloved Ohio State or Michigan, and that fuels players Focus and Anger into Winning? Why have Conference Game just ordain Ohio State & Michigan every year? Back to the Game, I see the biggest weapon Penn State has is McSorley that can get critical passes to Gesicki all season long, stop it Wisky wins....but few to none except Michigan d Pitt have stopped Gesicki! I think the score is too low below but we will know if the Penn State Moorhead Spread can beat a Pro-Set Running and Passing Game not just this year, but for the next 2 years?

When
: Saturday, Dec. 3 – 8 p.m. ET
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.
TV Broadcast: FOX

Advantages

Offense: Penn State – McSorley is coming into his own. He has 16 TDs compared to only two interceptions during Penn State’s eight-game winning streak.

Defense: Wisconsin – The Badgers rank third in the country in rush defense, giving up just over 100 yards per game on the ground.

Special Teams: Penn State – John Reid ranks third in the conference in average yards per punt return.

Coaching: Even – Chryst and James Franklin have guided their teams to this title game, a matchup that few expected.

Intangibles: Even – Playing on a neutral field puts roughly an even amount of each team’s rabid fan base in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Matchup To Watch
Barkley vs. Wisconsin’s run defense
McSorley won’t be able to win this game by himself like last week. Barkley is going to need to break through the Badgers’ defense and put together a solid game if Penn State expects to come out of this matchup victorious.

Betting Odds
Spread: Wisconsin -3
Over/Under: No line as of post time

Campus Insider Prediction: 17 Wisconsin 14 Penn State

shoulda just had a rematch of OSU Mich instead
The Big Ten is still the Big Two and seems to favor that aspect of the conference. I changed my mind, Penn State or Wisconsin should go to the NCS Playoff, same for Clemson or VT, Washington or Colorado, and Bama or Florida, and only OU or OKSU last only because no extra Champion Game.

All others wait in line until Conferences match up the Top Ranked Teams every year, either the Conference Championships count over the CFB Playoff Committee Ranking or those Rankings designate the Conference Champ Game, having it both ways is just too unfair.
#1 BAMA-#14Florida Winner
#5Wisconsin-#7Penn State Winner
#3Clemson-#16Virginia Tech Winner
#4Washington-#9Colorado Winner
Or Big-12 Champ Winner Left Until Happens
Then some Conference left off?

Versus

CFB Playoff Rankings Conference Game

#1BAMA-Auburn #14 Winner
#2Ohio State-Michigan#4 Winner
#3Clemson-FSU#12 Winner
#4Washington-Colorado#8 Winner
Left Out Until Big-12 Champ Game
#9OU-OKSU#10 Winner Plays #14WVU if Ranked Higher if Beats Baylor after OU or OKSU lose.

Cut the CFB Playoff Committee Conference Bull and go to 8 Teams. Or Dump Rankings or keep it Conference Champs prevail.

Wisconsin 34
Nitters 17

" Ya know" will be on top of his game as the Wisconsin HC.
Frankie football is running out of luck!

Nitters lose this one and their bowl game and get ranked around 18-20.
PITT plays a ranked team in their bowl game, wins, and is ranked like 20.
PITT and the Nitters will be ranked in the same area at the end of the season.

Penn State has a history of beating UW. I'll take PSU over Wisconsin 21-19.
Wisconsin pretty even with Wisky having one more win, but 7 close games, and since Penn State joined the Big Ten in 1993, it is with a better record in the Big Ten by one.

Wisconsin is 3rd in Big Ten Ranked 12th in Overall Wins, and Penn State 5th in Big Ten and 18th Overall. But good topic for clarification.

Wisconsin wins like they always seem to do. A close game in the 4th quarter with a turnover or a field position change that gives them a short field to score.

I just have this vision of Pitt fans heaping praise on Paul Chryst for beating PSU

The Alvarez Factor....Barry has Coached Post-Season games before as Athletic Director, I think he will play a role in helping Chryst in the game, I think this will be a terrific game to enjoy this Saturday.

Pitt gets Kudos in many ways......Penn State OC Moorhead credits his Pitt coaching days for his "Pitt Think Tank Offense'....once again Penn State Nittany Lions owe a Big Debt to Big Brother Pitt existence not just on this aspect of bringing Penn State back to Top 25 Winning even while losing to Pitt this year!

Our younger Brother Penn State also owes Pitt's Graduates Administrating, Teaching, and Educating helping Penn State go from 1855 The Farmer High School of Pennsylvania, to Agricultural College of Pennsylvania, to Pennsylvania State College, to 1954 The Pennsylvania State University while Pitt was curing Polio for the world!

As for Wisconsin, while Pitt did not hire Pennsylvania Native Barry Alvarez in 1989 that left him for Wisconsin and Pitt was the place Barry sent Paul Chryst to be tutored for his first Head Coaching position and has prior Pitt Coaches on his current Staff to help the Badgers beat Penn State for the Big Ten Championship and can thank Pitt. Or lose to Penn State again with our Little Nittany Lions Brothers owing another Debt to Pitt if they win!

What a great game expectations for Wisconsin and Penn State Fans, and Pitt helped them both out in prior years and this year too, and may I say, to their Thank You....you are Welcome and Good Luck from Pitt!

I was more so looking at the last two meetings I suppose...
Barry Alvarez went 4-5 against Paterno that was winning without Athletic Integrity during that Era.

It has been close games and 9-8 or 8-9 is not domination, and one of those last two losses were close. I sat in the dead Cold in 2012 with over 3 Overtime watching O'Brien win it!

Just glad Penn State is back in the Top 25 Winning again like Pitt and WVU too. This makes the Pitt Win bigger than ever, and Penn State did it with O'Brien & Franklin being finally under Athletic Integrity Reforms, and still waiting to beat Pitt this century?

Good analysis Captain. I really feel PSU was in a position to beat Wisconsin until the last rash of injuries to their OL. I just don't think this is a good match up for PSU with the status of the OL. It will be very hard for Barkley to get any lanes against this defense. I agree much is up to McSorely if the running game is to click at all. Wisconsin doesn't show a lot of super stars but they also show no weaknesses. They have played everybody very physically tough. Wisky is a strong, mature, and disciplined team who can play with anybody in the country. They don't have the flash and if they fall behind they could be in trouble against PSU. Before Mahon got hurt and they had to shift everybody remaining on the line, the PSU offense was starting to look scary good. They can still make big plays but consistency and sustaining drives will be really tough against Wisky. Wisky does not give up many big plays in the running or passing game. They control the clock better than anyone. If PSU cannot make some big plays, it will be a long evening for them. Who would have thought this would have been the Big 10 match up a few weeks ago?

Tickets for the game are going for $10 on stubhub.

Seems that even the Badgers and Peds aren't interested in going.

Unfortunately Penn St. 28 WISC 21. PSU seems to have built up a lot of momentum beating the Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland types of the world. Interesting thing to watch is if Colorado beats Washington (which won't be the total shocker people think it would). Colorado, Big Ten champ, Michigan would all be 2 loss teams. Who would get the number #4 CFP spot?

Chryst never struck me as a big game coach. Idk the score, but PSU wins and fans cry when they dont get into the playoff.

No way the Nits lose this game. They all are talking about this "destiny" bullshit. But as long as CLEM/UW hold serve, it will be sweet to have PSU on the outside looking in. Enjoy the Rose Bowl dealing USC...

Well, Mich has head to head blowout wins over both plus another Top 10ish win over Wisconsin. Shouldn't be much of a discussion.

"steelhead52, post: 1690840, member: 31208"]Good analysis Captain. I really feel PSU was in a position to beat Wisconsin until the last rash of injuries to their OL. Agree and starting to lean towards a Wisky Big Win. They have DLs and DBs, stop Big Passes, and Stop Third Downs. While Penn State has been living off the Big Pass, even against MSU less than 100 yard on Rushing, but really bad on Third Downs.

I agree much is up to McSorely if the running game is to click at all.
In my judgment, this is why PSU is 10-2, McSorley has just been brilliant on Moorhead's System that allows Trace making the right calls that cannot be defended until he makes them? No one can predict him, and he makes it all go with a pretty good DC Pry's Defense keeping him in the Game until he does it in the Second Half like Pitt, OSU, MSU, Minnesota, Indiana& Rutgers Games, and if if Trace gets the early lead like in Maryland, Iowa, Purdue game lights out? So how he plays makes the PSU Wins.

Wisconsin doesn't show a lot of super stars but they also show no weaknesses. They have played everybody very physically tough. Wisky is a strong, mature, and disciplined team who can play with anybody in the country.
Agree, Wisky has to take Leads and keep them pounding especially in the second half. Chryst looks slow but he knows his Team. He should take a lead and keep building it on it every Quarter and win Big? But then there is McSorley that can bring back Penn State?

They don't have the flash and if they fall behind they could be in trouble against PSU. Before Mahon got hurt and they had to shift everybody remaining on the line, the PSU offense was starting to look scary good.
Agree, if PSU gets a lead it could turn out a Iowa, UMD, MSU game win, if not Wisky has to be careful in the 4th Quarter? If I am Wisky they must smash McSorley every play so he Sore by the 4th!

Great Analysis by you and I Thank You! I have to make my mind, I see Vegas wrong on this one, in spite of PSU Players Execution, Performances, and Big Plays on Cloud Nine, but not against Alvarez/Chryst's Wisky's Consistency!
39 Wisconsin Penn State 19
We Shall See?

For Wisconsin to win Clement will have to have a huge game. I'll be shocked if Hornibrook or even both QBs combined throw for over 150 yards. Need to force some PSU turnovers as well.
