With what is happening I would like to know if any of the States tax dollars going to help Penn State out. They are over $250,000 dollars in fines. If so there are some big groups that would like to challenge this but they said will not go far because most of the legislators support Penn State. Governor please hold State funding if so

This money should come out of the pockets of the individuals involved in and convicted for these crimes.

Isn't Sandusky still getting his Nitter pension ?

State funding is like 10% of PSU's annual operating budget. The University could most likely shoulder the burden of the fines by drawing from their endowment.

They aren't drawing from their endowment. In fact, immediately after the scandal broke, they moved their non-endowed operational investments into their endowment fund to protect it from lawsuits (which is why their endowment suddenly jumped by 1/2 billion in one year). Endowments are legally protected and regulated.

Not that I have any idea if they sequester their state subsidy from their general operational funds, but they certainly wouldn't have to use tax payer money to pay for the settlements or fines (and I'm sure they could show that they didn't by accounting) because it is such a small portion of their annual revenue.

I think 2017-18 was just short of $320 million from the state for general operations. PSU's total budget is $5.7 billion but Hershey Medical center is wrapped into that number and it's a very large portion of the total budget.

Also, PA received $48 million from Penn State of the $60 million in fines the NCAA imposed. I don't know how that works but I'd guess it was more of a paper transaction.

Sure, that's why Wolfe raised the gas tax as high as he did. .30 to .50 per gallon. Just for state penn

As a non-PA resident it makes me happy that you state tax dollars are paying for those fines and settlements and I am not. I get all of the joy of a top 10 team with none of the cost. Seems perfect.

Right and it makes you happy that your psu hires that kind of trash from the cover up of Sandusky by jo pa to hireing a guy who covered up rape and brought in prostitutes for recruits at another school. The board that does the hireing must be looking for that mindset, who knows, maybe Franklin is doing that now, you know "we are state penn"

Maybe you should stay out of pa, so you don't have to pay for the crimes committed by your loved ones

Blah blah blah. Syracuse...really?

I think he might be insane. I understand rivalry banter but some people take this to the level of mental illness.

We aren't allowed on your board at all. You guys seem to get your shots in here and allowed to defend yourselves. Why don't you go back to your board and ask them why they are all cowards in regards to Pitt fans and allow us to defend ourselves? You guys are cowards.

Can't deny, that is a nice perk for you. I hope that you also high-fived your kids or grandkids over the fact that some other kid was raped so that they can enjoy the game without the emotional scars.

If perfect is the school you support being caught up in a scandal where they ended up having to pay fines, yeah you're living the dream.

What are you talking about??

No explanation needed.. they haven't won a nc since 1986...over 30 years and their "football program"is an embarrassment

So that is it? That is the only thing that defines "winning"? Really? As a Pitt fan you are going to go there? Be honest, if Pitt made back to back years, the Rose and Fiesta Bowl, you would be declaring how this program is dominant and a winner.

There is only 1 winner a year... it's been 30+ years since that was pedophile state. It'll most likely be another 30+ years before they are a winner again.

Unless we were Ohio State or Bama-like, i wouldn't call Pitt dominant at all. The only time u could make a case for us being "dominant" was the very brief period in the late 70s early 80s.

Again, so if you don't win a championship, everybody else is "second place" right? No difference between a Top 10 team and a top 25 team or a team who didn't make a bowl game? Do you draw a differentiation based on that? I mean, if the Philly Eagles lose to the Patriots, their season is basically equal to the Cleveland Browns? Is that what you are saying?

I'm not banned on BWI because i don't ever go to their site, why would i?

I understand why they constantly come here and post... they are obsessed what their big brother is doing.

This is not about you. And yes, I get your point. I don't go over there, but the one time I did, I was instantly blacklisted for life.
