Pitino isn’t used to this…..

If he is requiring them to play a style which they are not athletically capable of doing, how is that their fault? They cannot suddenly become more athletic. Aren't coaches supposed to put their players in positions to be successful, not put them in situations which they are not capable of handling?
He's saying they're not athletic enough to compete against the level of competition SJU plays in. Style of play doesn't factor in.

He's also saying he had to take what he could get to fill out a roster after he was hired, basically saying he'd never have recruited these players in a normal full recruiting cycle.

Brutally honest, and not what you want to say publicly about your own players no matter how true it may be.

Going from an ACC title to 2 D1 wins in 2 years? It’s an embarrassment. I couldn’t care less if you come up with other examples. He’s a joke.

You guys are right. We’re awesome. 56-50 against D1 competition is awesome! Pitt football losing every wpial kid to psu is awesome. Hiring an entire FCS staff is awesome. Yay Narduzzi! Can’t wait to hear who he throws under the bus this year!

"I'm calling it unprecedented even if it isn't unprecedented". Got it.

Narduzzi had the best season in 4 decades. Narduzzi is a medicore coach. Narduzzi was very fortunate for the Covid year or else it wouldn't have happened. All can be true.

Pitt is also not in position to be a major player in college football. They don't have the necessary financial support. That's not something that is magically going to change.

True but we shouldn't celebrate a 7-5 coach because he doesn't completely suck.

He got Pitt the only outright conference championship in school history.

Unless you are old enough to remember the Majors/Sherrill era, it's really the ONLY achievement in the program worth celebrating in over 40 years.

He did. But it was a completely lucky season thanks to Covid and Clemson/FSU being down. He's a 7-5 mediocre coach with 1 lucky season where they still managed to get lit up by Western Michigan and a bad Miami team.

Yet somehow they were athletic enough to play for him at Iona, where 4 of them came from, and 2 of them were athletic enough to play at St Johns the year before, and 2 of them were athletic enough to play for UConn and Kansas. He is not some no-name coach, he is one of the top coaches in college, and had access to plenty of transfers from the portal.

He also probably didnt have an NIL infrastructure ready yet. BballinsiderfromPitt says the Masiello Crime Family is now on board so they should be competing for Final Fours soon. Fuh-get about it

Everything you don't like is just lucky.. What a fraud. He won and every other Coach in the same exact circumstance of COVID didn't. The record doesn't say he was lucky. Only a very pathetic lousy fan like you.

You could also blame last year on the Covid year.

Or, you could take it for what it is and understand everyone was playing under the same scenario.

Clemson was 10-3 you dolt, and finished ranked #13. They would have been top 10 without a loss to Pitt. You post the same nonsense nonstop.

This thread was about that piece of garbage Pitino, but somehow you and the other Pitino jock sniffer have made it about Narduzzi.

Clemson wasnt Clemson that year. They didnt beat anybody. I dont care what their ranking was or that they won 9 regular season games. Narduzzi was insanely lucky that year. That's undeniable. Had Covid not happened, we would have went 7-5. Wuhan made him a lot of money

Clemson lost to national champ UGA by 7, in double OT to NC State, and Pitt. They were more Clemson than they've been the last 2 years.

Excuses are like a$$holes, everybody has one.

This is one of your dumbest posts ever, and that's saying something.

2021 Clemson also finished 85th in scoring, after finishing 4th in scoring each of the 3 years preceding. And that number would have looked a lot worse if you take away a couple of blowouts against patsies. It’s a fact that Clemson was down considerably that year, primarily due to severe QB and offensive struggles, all anyone had to do to see that was watch one of their games. It’s also a fact that if Pickett (and Whipple--as we know Pickett made his return conditional on Whpple being retained) had left the year before, 2021 would never have been possible.

But--it's also disingenuous to deny Narduzzi his due credit for his team's success that season. Every program and team every season has it's "ifs and buts" that impact successes and failures and the bottom line is Narduzzi delivered the best season at Pitt since the glory days. Would have been even better if he hadn't inexcusably $hit the bed to the #9 team in the MAC that season and/or if Pickett had played in the bowl game, but it was still a great year, and nobody needs to go out of their way to try to put an asterisk on it.

When a team fails, it's on the head coach. When it succeeds, it's on the head coach. That's the way it has always been and will always be.
