Pitt would have better off bringing in CMU or Point Park for non-RPI games.

Can’t disagree. It will be interesting to see if the NCAA reacts in some way- seems bad for the sport and competitive balance if teams just cancel late season games to manipulate RPI.

They should just count the games as losses - it’s essentially a forfeit to cancel for no other reason that you’re afraid to hurt your RPI

I also think RPI is a difficult tool for baseball.

Baseball is such a unique sport in that every game is so drastically affected by starting pitching— why winning a series is a more appropriate metric than winning or losing an individual game.

Perhaps one game series shouldn’t count toward RPI and split 2 games series essentially become a wash wrt to RPI— winning 2 of 3 and / or sweeps ( 2 + games series) should be weighted differently.
