*Pitt Transfer Portal Thread*

I think the Edwards transfer had little to do with money (although that doesn't hurt 😀) If it were strictly about money, he'd still be a free agent taking bids. He signed with UCF rather quickly.

He initially signed with Pitt because of Charlie Partridge. He stuck it out and played this year.
I agree. Some forget that Edwards originally committed to UCF. He played HS ball in suburban Orlando and is a hometown football hero. He may just want to be close to home, family, and friends.

I never begrudge kids who don't badmouth Pitt on the way out. It's the kid's life, and he should be able to pursue happiness where he sees fit. I would have loved for him to stay, but since he isn't, "Good luck, Sincere."

Huge day!!

Yep. That one was not about money.

Maybe I'm overly-skeptical. But if one has 5 sacks at Utah State, I feel like that translates to, well, less than five in the ACC. I mean, unless he tees off on an FCS team and inflates his stats or something. But I just don't see how people get excited about some of these stat lines.

I totally get that sometimes guys weren't in systems that suit them, blah blah. But we heard that about Matlack, and he did jack squat at Pitt.

Looks like we have landed Joey Zelinsky DE from Eastern Michigan. Assuming more of a depth option.

Still hoping they have someone lined up who can compete to start.

That's the thing I keep hearing Pitt fans say about all these guys, though. "Yeah, he's underwhelming. But he's just for depth." Well, at some point we better land someone who projects as a good starter. Our cornerbacks, defensive ends, wide receivers, and o line all suck ass as positional groups go.

What is wrong with some of you Pitt fans? It doesnt matter who Pitt gets, you all come on here and have to say something negative. Its funny how a lot of the other major programs signs these types of players, and none of you say a word. Pitt signs a former 4 or 5 star player out of the portal, and its, he couldnt beat out the other players and did not wait to compete and Pitt picks up a player that team didnt want.

Pitt goes and get a lower ranked player. Pitt sucks and getting lower ranked players from the sister of the poor. Cincere Edwards goes to UCF, Pitt cant compete with UCF in NIL. Well guess what, if another big program wanted him, they couldnt compete neither.

Not every player signed is signed to start or play. You lose so many players, then you have to look to starters and bodies. You people cant actually think all these players are going to be on the 2 deep. But I guess that doesnt really matter as long as some of you get to post idiotic statements about Pitt.

Why?

Literally the freshmen played very well in the bowl game.

Just need good players. We had a good year this year until the team all got injured. We already have a good core of playe
Right, we’re all set because “literally the freshmen played really well in the bowl game” against a middling MAC team.

The things I read on this forum…..

Needs after today:
Offense
1. OT
Secondary needs would be
2. bigger RB
3. TE
4. a fourth scholarship QB for depth

Defense
1. DE
2. older DT
3. depth LB

don't forget, the Duzz said we have a really good team too

I mean what else do you need to know? :(

I think DT and LB are the only two positions I’m not worried about. We good there.

Just from their write-ups, none of these transfers moves the needle for me. Seems like a bunch of backups. I will be happy to be wrong.

The two underclasmen fron Ohio State and Florida "could" be a lotbetter than that.

They were 3* recruits that got to 4*/5* programs and did nothing.

They could be a lot better than that, but there’s not much reason to think they will be a lot better than that.

Utah State DE Blaine Spires,Michigan DE Joey Zelinski, and Richmond OL Keith Gouveia: have actual game film which is good, but nothing special about their careers other than that, and are transferring up. When a player transfers up, you want them to have been standouts at the lower level, like Mumpfield, Reid, etc. All 3 of these seem like practice fodder.

Charlotte OL Kendall Stanley and Cal (PA) CB Rashan Murray: OK, these two are transferring up but at least have standout film, I could see Stanley starting and Murray in the two-deep.

Ohio State DB Jayden Bonsu, Florida WR Andy Jean, and Florida State WR Deuce Spann: They have nice recruiting rankings and come from strong P4 schools....but they just didn't play. Not a good sign. I guess any of these could be good and just need a fresh start, but you'd like to get players from these top P4 schools that are at least playing some as a reserve and possibly blocked by better players. Like Lucas Krull was blocked by Pitts at Florida, but he aslo got to play some there, wasn't just burried on the bench. Same for like Devonshire, McMillon, D.Davis etc. The indicators for these 3 transfers aren't good either.

Pitt just lands Jaeden Moore from Oregon. Will be a DE here. Would still like one more DE as we have lost 7 total DL this off-season.

Also FCS stud OT Conner Moore from Montana State just went in the portal after they lost the FCS Championship last night. Ohio native. Not sure if O$U kicks the tires as they got two OTs through the portal already. Maybe Moore looks to come back home.
