*Pitt Transfer Portal Thread*

New strategy for Pitt, find guys who thought they were out of eligibility because of JUCU time and get them for next year.
Need some older grown men additions for DE and OL.

Stanley seems to be a solid pick up. 3 more like it and i might start to have some optimism about next years offense. It would be reeeeally nice to find 2 solid tackles in the portal to kick baer inside and improve the interior. Obviously theres not a team in the country that wouldn't like another good offensive tackle so thats easier said than done, but thats gotta be the goal.

Sorted by sacks this past year and the following players now should be eligible next year due to JUCO ruling:
Jimmori Robinson (UTSA): 10.5 sacks last year
Cian Slone (Utah State): 7.5 sacks last year
Maurice Westmoreland (UTEP): 7.5 sacks each of past two years

It's a little more challenging to search for offensive lineman as there isn't a listing of all the top senior lineman.

These are the guys Pitt should be going after. I'm sure everyone will be reaching out, but Pitt should be able to sell playing time since most other schools already have their transfers at this point.

Going to be an interesting 48 hours in the portal before it closes as all these players with new found eligibility due to the JUCO ruling decide to enter.
Of note:
Maurice Westmoreland (DE, UTEP) just entered. 7.5 sacks each of past two years.
Dean Connors (RB, Rice): 159 rushes, 780 yards, 62 receptions for 485 yards. The dude fits what we want being able to rush and run and is 6'0" 206lbs.

Another RB to watch is Braydon Bennett (RB, Coastal) 781 rushing yards this year with 11 TDs. Also 76 career receptions.

Yesterday's game showed me they do not trust any other RBs on the roster and Reid is the entire offense. Need another complement back so Reid can make it through the season.

I'll keep watching for JUCO eligibility lineman to enter the portal. We need to do better than a D2 OG transfer.

Good strategy. We had our best year in 2021 when we had all the older 5th/6th year players.
Find more OL/DL like this and land them.

Becoming a dumpster fire. I don’t was somewhat hopeful if they kept all their key players they might be decent next year. Gonna need to pull a rabbit of of their hat in the portal.

Well now we are 5 days past the bowl game. If players (non-graduate) haven't submitted their paperwork to enter the portal by now they will be here in spring.
Compliance department would still have 48 hours to submit paperwork to the portal database so we will see if anything comes out tomorrow.

It would be year seven for him. This Temple has been around longer than some Mayan temple remnants.
According to this, with a medical redshirt, he could get an eighth.

They haven't added Chief Borders to the list yet. Someone needs to tell them that Chief left the Reservation as well....

Why?

Literally the freshmen played very well in the bowl game.

Just need good players. We had a good year this year until the team all got injured. We already have a good core of players

OL stunk down the stretch with the backups in there. DE has been gutted by graduation and the portal.
These JUCO guys only became eligible last week, so spots at other school may have already filled up. Pitt needs those bodies on the line of scrimmage.

Even in the NIL era, most players leaving a P4 transfer down...to G5 or FCS...or even D2/D3. A few transfer to a less regarded P4 or maybe a similarly level P4. Only a select few 'transfer up' still.

Even given that, it is a grim reality that our guys are transferring to Texas St and Toledo and Sacramento State. Because those are guys that started and/or played meaningful snaps for us. It makes those that say we have MAC level talent seem correct. Edwards to UCF is our 'best' transfer so far. Will be interesting to see where Gandy, Bass, Crumpley, Reynolds, N. Johnson end up because those are also guys that played meaningful snaps for us. I can only see Gandy or Bass landing a P4 offer, and not really sure of that for either. So, we definitely did put a lot of MAC level talent on the field last season.

PS - I am not talking about practice depth guys like Frantl, Aden, Metroskly, etc or even guys buried on the depth chart like Bigelow. Those types always transfer down and it make senses. The concerning part here is when 10 guys that started and/or played meaningful snaps in games transfers down and no other P4 wants them, but we were putting them on the field all season.

I think the Edwards transfer had little to do with money (although that doesn't hurt 😀) If it were strictly about money, he'd still be a free agent taking bids. He signed with UCF rather quickly.

He initially signed with Pitt because of Charlie Partridge. He stuck it out and played this year.
