That’s a huge issue today, but at least others have stepped up. The biggest issue is this team cannot get a defensive stop for its life.
Champagnie is nowhere close to being ready to go pro. He very well might go but he is definitely not ready.

Just make a respectable percent of our free throws and we are winning this game. Pretty sickening

These last 7 weeks for Pitt were a complete and total disaster. Next year is the key year for Capel if things don’t start turning around it’s time to consider going in another direction.
Sadly, this is 5 years in a row when the end of the season is very much welcomed. Time for Capel and company to fix this roster. Fortunately, the ‘20-21 backcourt looks to be set. A solid offseason in the weight room for Jeffress is a must. The Champagnie question is the biggest X factor, of course. A grad transfer to start at the 5 is a must also.

Penny is not a pro yet. He’s definitely not getting drafted or it will be late 2nd round. Team is a mess too. Can’t see it getting any better next year. And I’m an eternal optimist who really likes Capel and wanted him to succeed.
Did they have many opportunities with champs 15 misses?
You have to be able to catch the ball and not trip over your own two feet.
I mean emotionally I feel that way this second. But you don't think if we got back Justin and added a transfer or two and saw some growth from Femi and Nike this wouldn't be an improved team almost by default?
What a strange box score. 14 turnovers to 9. We made 10 3s to their 5. They made 22/28 FTs and we made 5/14. We out rebounded them, 37-36. We had 8 blocks to 2 and 19 fouls to 10.

Coulibaly and Brown had about 7-8 chances combined to score points. You are more likely to have a turnover if you throw it inside to either one of them.
I'm not slamming Champagnie at all. Looking at his two seasons here I do not think he is NBA ready. There are about 330 D1 teams, and there are just 32 NBA teams. Spots are limited.
I too want him to come back next season. I like him. He's been a terrific Pitt Man.
