Good win tonight. We were due to
have one of these close games go
our way. The last few minutes were
hairy. Our players made errors,
struggled to protect the ball, and
really misused the clock, but they
got the win!

Rather than dissect it as I often
do LOL....I'll just make some
comments and let others go at it.

- Great game by Everett, some of
her baskets were off great moves.
Speaking of Everett...I said it before.
play her more at the point. That big
30 pt 3rd Qtr. was a result of her
assists (7). More than anyone BC or Pitt.

- Brown great game. 5-6 Fg's, 7 rebounds.

- Harris, mostly in control. 50% Fgs.

- King has to play more, 10 rebounds
9 pts. She and Hueston played a lot
inside tonight. They may end up
replacing Rita.

- Coach White, Please! teach your
players not to give up the baseline.
Please! teach em not to split a
double team by dribbling; =TO.
IMO we're better going small.
Ezeja, Brown, King, Hueston are
our best inside players.

Offensive rebound, BC has to foul. Get it to a guard... jack a triple with the shot clock turned off ?!?!?

WTF was she thinking?Luckily Pitt dominated the boards tonight and came up with that one at a crucial time.

Well, you put it a little more bluntly
than I did above..."really misued the
clock," I like the way you said it!
"WTF!"...,,damn! BTW, I see that as
coaching. They have to practice it,
and they have to go over different
scenarios in their time outs. All
they had to do was hold on to the
ball. They HAVE to know that.

As for "dominating the boards, we
just might be better going small.
That 3rd Qtr turn a round was with
smaller inside players. Brown, King,
and Hueston. Also with Everett
handling the ball and getting assists.

That three with ten seconds left was the ultimate WTF! moment. Did Strother not know that we were up by a point and thought that we needed to score? Or did she think the shot clock didn't reset for some reason and she had to hurry up and shoot? We got lucky Harris was able to get the tie up on the rebound, and that the arrow was pointing our way.

The small lineup worked well tonight, but you also saw the problem with it. Ezeja, Exanor and Hueston played a combined 27 minutes and picked up seven fouls between them. Add in Igbokwe's two fouls in nine minutes and your post defenders picked up nine fouls in 36 minutes. And that was against Boston College, not someone who is actually good.

They need to get those young ladies into the weight room in the off season and get them stronger, because they get pushed around too much defending in close. I think Ezeja especially has a chance to be a good one, but she is too easy for a decent post player to just move off her spot when she is trying to defend.

Some good passing in this game. They seem to be finding open shooters better and some nice inside dishes today.

Agree that King needs to play more — she seems Basketball smart and mature for a freshman.

I had hoped Pitt would come out and dominate this game, but BC was hot from 3 so another loss was looking likely. Even after we caught up, I figured we’d go cold. Nice to hang on at the end...

Go Pitt.

Surprising stats:

—Pitt was 17 for 21 from the foul line.

—Pitt only had 2 turnovers in the second half.

Go Pitt.

About the turnovers. They're finally
not running up and down the court
outta control. They're playing fast
when it's there, and settling down
when it's not. They have a few
shooters, Green, Strothers, and
of course Everett and Harris. I'd
like to see them spread the floor
even more than they're doing.
Fortunately we're not getting
doubled out front. When teams
do that, we struggle. Last night
BC doubled late in the game,
and boom, immediate turnover.
These are also WTF moments IMO.
It's coaching when they do it over
and over.

You're right about the small lineup
and foul trouble. I'd go with Ezeja
for longer stretches of time and
play Ibokwe less, she has a long way
to go. She does rebound, and block
shots really well. However her reaction
time is soooo slow. Has hands of stone.
King should get more time, and Brown
needs some rest, I'd play those two,
and get Hueston playing time inside.
We made our best run when the smaller
lineup was in there, and with Everett on
the point. Everett with great assists.

Coaching again....BC's Soule had a field
day inside. She'd post up, and they'd
just lob it over Brown's head who was
fronting her. PUT your hands up on D!
It's easy to prevent that (Bball 101). No
adjustment coaches? My other two
favorites...giving up the baseline (101),
and dribbling between two defenders
on the double team (101).

Sorry for the rant. LOL

The best part about that 30 point quarter was that it came without Harris and Everett dominating the score sheet. Lots of contributions from lots of different players.

It happened with Everett throwing
great passes. One time she threaded
the needle, another assist was of the
no look variety. She handled the ball.
At one point if I remember right, she
had three assists in a row in that run.
As I've said on here, I see her on the
point for parts of the game, especially
when Harris takes a rest. Hayford just
ain't ready yet on the point. Pitt is
fortunate BC didn't double out front
all game.
Anyway, "lots of contributions from
lots of different players." We have lots
of athletes. Everett is a player, and she
makes plays, passes, and shots that
we don't see that often in women's bball.
