Rank these 6 prospective coaches

YOUR SECOND POINT MAKES 0 SENSE. STOP MAKING IT. SAYING IT 1000X DOESNT MAKE IT ANY LESS TRUE. AS A MAJOR D1 AD YOU ARE JUDGED EVERY DAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU’RE BBALL PROGRAM IS THE WORST IN THE P6…

You don’t think it will reflect poorly on her if he has to come back because of HER extension???? If anything, her being able to navigate us out of this this year would be HUGE.

But you know all that, you’re just taking that side and making dumb points for whatever reason.

Heather is a terrible spot. Fire him and pay 8 figures due to her own mistake. Keep him and pay less but go through another bad year. Its why I think she keeps him and goes to church a lot in the hopes his guys stay, improve, and we get good transfers and become a Wake or Miami.

I know you love to play the lottery but I think the WORST thing she can do as a professional is to pay 8 figures and then hire a no-name who has a 75% chance of failing. If she pays 8 figures to Capel, she has to recoup that in attendance by making a big-time hire

For message board purposes only (I still believe Capel is our coach next year);

6 different categories of coaches

Rick Pitino - the guaranteed winner, sellout the Pete guy but alums are afraid their degrees will be revoked and fired from their jobs because Pitt decided to take basketball seriously

Sean Miller - the hometown hero and alum but comes with baggage

Jamie Dixon - re-hire our best coach ever, who has been very bubblish at TCU

Chris Mack or Mark Turgeon - same category - fired big-time coach who seemed to be doing relatively ok where they were at

Nico Medved - high major guy

Mid-major lottery ticket: no names given. Insert your own into this category as you wish. To me, its throwing darts at a board. Maybe you get lucky or maybe you dont. I dont see a sure thing as I saw with Nate Oats.

Mine:

1. Pitino
2. Miller
3. Dixon
4. Mack/Turgeon
5. Medved
6. Lottery ticket

Might flip Medved for Mack depending on what I see in March
Medved. No to everyone else.

Kevin Keatts is terrible. Great recruiter though. Archie at NC State??? Hmmmm.

Wasn't Keatts a lotto ticket? I thought those guys were guarantees? You mean they fail too? Hilarious that you guys think PITT, of all teams, is going to hit on a lottery ticket
He took uncw to the tournament twice and won the colonial 3 years in a row
And ncsu his first season .
So if that’s a “lotto ticket “ what the hell do you think pitt will hire ?

So hang on to Capel until they get a big name guarantee then? Is that what you’re proposing?

Once again you make ZERO SENSE. You keep going back to the "get good transfers" line, There are 3 ACC caliber players on this roster, no one in their right mind would come in to this situation. Also you don't have any idea if these guys will stick around. Do you think Hugley or Femi will be back 100% for sure? No.

You need to cut the cord now.

I asked you earlier but didn't answer the question. You are so concerned about the buyout, but how much is the school losing from ticket sales and donations by having him come back?

You keep saying she needs to make a "big time" hire, no, they need someone to rebuild the program.

This thing about Heather firing Capel and “her clock” is seriously idiotic stuff. You don’t think she’s being judged currently every time we go out and lose by 15 in front of 1000 people???? And another year of it will just make her look worse. That point makes absolutely 0 sense. If anything, how it affects her and her resume will be a reason she DOES fire him this year so she can correct it ASAP.

As I said the other day, it's one of the most moronic things he's ever said.

Which is saying a lot.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP BRINGING UP PLAYERS MAY TRANSFER? No shit. I know that. If good players leave, he is gone. For the billionth time. There is no need for a debate if he loses his good players

And who are they going to hire that is guaranteed to rebuild the program? You know for these sures these lotto tickets are guarantees?

If Pitt waits for a guarantee then Jeff Capel is coach for life.

And Pitt is guaranteed to never even be mediocre again.

Which seems to be an odd thing for a Pitt fan to be pining for, and yet here you are.

Someone sell me on Beilein because I don’t get the appeal. He’s old. He flamed out with the Cavs. Other coaches can negatively recruit that he’s a racist. I don’t get it.

I am not going to start naming names. I don't know how much they are going to offer or who would be interested. What I do know is bringing Capel back for 1 more year just prolongs the agony for the fanbase.

At this point, if he brings in white kids who can shoot it works better than what we have now. We got an avowed social justice advocate in charge and every black kid seems quick to hitch their wares to every white guy recruiting them instead of us. I don't think race really matters, only on TV debate shows.

We have some rich alums, right? It's time. Put together a package and go after Cal. I mean he has done all he can at UK, bring him home, finish his career out there.

I mean he is what Sean Miller wishes he was. Let's go big or go home.

I know there is bad blood between the Millers and Pitt, but

maybe Archie Miller was just in the wrong place at the wrong time? young enough for a second chance?

Killed it at Dayton, coached and recruited in ACC footprint. Was competitive in his time at Indiana.

Yes.

Going by his logic, just hang on to Capel indefinitely so "her clock" doesn't start.
