I saw that Frank Beamer is also on the committee. I just wonder how these people on the committee can stay neutral when it comes to discussion of their teams and their rivals.

They have to recuse themselves for certain schools. Not sure "rivals" would apply, but I imagine most are pretty professional in that respect.

They have to recuse themselves in situations that involve their teams also. For example, Dan Radakovich had to recuse himself this year when Ohio St was discussed, because they were a possible opponent for Clemson.

All of what you guys already said...but honestly, as a jaded bastid I wonder how much "rivalries" resonate with coaches today. Maybe in the "olden" days you couldn't trust a Bo Schembeckler or Woody Hayes not to try to screw OSU or Michigan (and we certainly have evidence Paterno worked actively behind the scenes to keep Pitt out of the Big Ten). But today ... with so much jumping around of coaches AND ADs, I mostly think their biggest loyalty is to The Green.
