Rumor has it another coach

Very interesting turn of events.

I have believed from day 1 that for football.....Heather is Ad1 and Duzz is AD 1A

The notion that Pitt offered more money (certainly on narduzzis input) may suggest PITT is more serious than we have believed.

I would have been ok with him leaving and getting a secondary coach that can recruit Jersey or the DMV area. I definately would not have given him a raise, that’s for sure.

Whatever though, not sure why anybody would be angry or lose sleep over a db coach.

Apparently very much better.

Longtime scout this evening passed along that North Carolina Street DT Kentavius Street and Pitt CB Avonte Maddox have "dominated" the East-West Shrine practices, thus far.

In all seriousness how much better were they?? Miami’s QB missed open WR all day. Defense is judged by entire season and the past 3 years overall were horrendous.

He is taking a lateral move basically , that happens a lot at Pitt, as we are the AAA to major league college football

Wow, you were really in flamer heaven thinking this rumor was true. Really surprising you didnt come back and comment how wrong you are. You are usually such a strong Pitt fan and all *rolls eyes*

Demetrius Gore was from Detroit..
He sure was. he was Michigan's Mr. Basketball in an era when southeast Michigan was arguably the deepest hotbed of elite high school basketball talent in the country.

Just a couple of small problems with throwing that name out there though:
  1. That was 35 years ago;
  2. The Golden Panthers were at the top of their proverbial game at that time; and
  3. That was 35 years ago.
I can only imagine what it took for Pitt and Dr. Roy to get Michigan's Mr. Basketball to come to Pitt from Detroit Chadsey High. Since then, Pitt basketball's Michigan pipeline has consisted of Chad Varga in the mid-90s, and a distant second place finish for Cassius Winston. Anyone who thought Williamson would be delivering legit Michigan players to Pitt was, well, "Smoke"-ing something.

We all thought this coaching staff had some cohesiveness...Nice to see some loyalty to your head coach.
Wasn’t a DB fan, with him as the coach, but there definitely improvement...

Definitely true.

I guess add Keith Armstrong from Ypsilanti to this group, and he was not highly recruited.

If you don’t count Varga due to him being a JUCO, you’re basically left with Gore and no one else.

Mentioned it in another thread but Gore was a classmate of mine and seemed like a decent enough guy, obviously that changed after he was out of school.

I think Gore got paid handsomely to come to Pitt. He was the early 80s equivalent of a 5 star player.

Reminds me of when Dixon hired that assistant who came from UMASS that supposedly had a major footprint in the Detroit area. His names escapes me but he had AAU ties. I laughed at that hire because any recruit worth anything in that area is going to Mich St, Mich, Ohio St, etc.. unless you were a blue blood type program who could steal a kid from another blue blood like Mich St. It was a total waste of a resource for a school like Pitt. You need to hire guys with connections to our recruiting areas and Detroit is not going to be one of those areas on a regular basis.

I think his name was Marlon Williamson
Smoke

Narduzzi mentioned in the news conference that he now carries a "bigger stick" than 3 years ago. I guess some of you missed the meaning of that. haha
