We mind as well play WVU. Everyone would agree it would be a fun and exciting matchup to look forward to.
And for those yammering about wanting a cupcake,
A. This season’s basically a wash with shorter conference only schedules and players opting out. No one of even knows if the full season will even be played.
B. If we can’t beat a rebuilding WVU team that went 5-7 last year, we won’t have a successful season anyway.

This game would likely happen as it would be played in the opening weeks.
Lyke needs to make this happen.

Didn’t the Big 12 yesterday say they were playing 9 games + a non-conference home game? If that’s the case, then a Pitt/WVU game isn’t in the cards. The ACC has said the one non-conference game needs to be in-state.

ACC has mandated +1 be in state and Big12 has mandated +1 be a home game. It seems like that issue could be overcome, but who knows. Would like to see it happen early enough, week zero, to avoid cancellation.

Don't you fly into PITTsburgh International Airport to play at WVU?

Pennsylginia?

But it's a bit comical that, instead of playing a team that could bus here and back in one day (or vice versa), we'll probably play a team that will need to fly and stay overnight just to appease these people who puff their chests out and make these thoughtless rules to sound like they're on top of things.

1) Our OOC game has to be played in PA. ACC rules.
2) Both coaches probably want a tune up game before their conference games.
3) If WV only gets 4 home conference games, then their OOC game will be in WV.

It's almost certainly going to be a G5 opponent. But it makes almost zero sense to play this game. It's just one more week, which has no bearing on the season, that you're adding risk. Plus, teams are going to have to pay to play these teams while not generating any ticket revenue to cover that cost (at least this will be the case for most teams, I imagine). I'll be interested to see if we reciprocate a game with a MAC team somewhere down the line, instead of footing this bill.

there's got a be a free plot of land on the border that could be used. one end zone in PA, one in WV.

Play on I 79. Since you can’t have fans.

I think I found a good spot. Here's the PA side...

And here's the West Virginia side...

... not bad for West Virginia. Now let's paint some lines, and it's game on.

I'd be shocked if the ACC keeps the +1. And, even if they did, if this is the +1. If kept, it'll be Miami OH.

The correct term is Pennsyltucky! :)
