I actually like Penn State’s chances to retain him. I’d imagine they have more money to throw at him and he’s an Indiana native, so he might prefer the Big Ten. Then again, perhaps he wants to carry on Big John’s legacy or something else that PSU can’t offer (e.g. coaching at a basketball-first school).
The only person saying Jeff Capel is a candidate at Georgetown is Jeff Capel and his agent.
Not that he couldn’t bring him with him, but Shrewsbury has his son committed for next year and seems to be very much a Big Ten guy. Also, Penn State has a new AD with quite a bit of bravado and has yet to be confronted with a major decision so I would imagine they will give him a big raise if they make the tourney.

Slater, one of his best friends, said win and get out to PittCabe last summer. Now everyone and their mother is mentioning him at Georgetown EXCEPT any Georgetown sources. Do you truly think these things are coincidences? He wants an extension or he wants out
Would it really make you guys mad if he Paul Chryst’d us and used us to take a lateral job and Heather had another chance to hire a coach? I trust she could make a good hire based on all of the factors in PITT’s favor at this juncture

There’s already been plenty of national guys saying it. Like what slater said. Why do you guys take Capel playing the career game perfectly personally? He needs to use this year to get an extension and reset his clock here or try to reset elsewhere. It’s the same thing Shrew is doing with GTown
At this point as of right now, yes.
I want to see our 4 star recruits next year and how well he does in the portal. I happen to think we are going to have a big offseason regardless of how this year finishes. I think we did more than enough this year to get a lot of players interested to come here, players that are going to be differences makers sooner rather than later.
I think we have a chance to bring in some real meaningful talent this offseason, talent we have not had in a long time.
How’s Matt Norlander? Much more respected than cliche Jon.

We are on the bubble because we lost our best post player, our best defender and our most talented guard all leading into the season, and had to try and figure out what we were doing against quality opponents. Capel’s work this year was incredible. He also has had incredibly bad luck. Losing horton and sibande last year. Having a rift form between his top 3 players after getting to a point where the team was getting votes and also losing your best big mid season that year. Capel also had his recruiting limited by covid. Its well documented that recruits dont know what pittsburgh is like. They still think its like the old school steel mill pittsburgh before they visit.
Here comes the constant Hugley bashing. He had alot of personal problems and wasn't himself. I expect him to return and be a part of the team next season.

So you acknowledge Capel did a good job this year. We have some good returning players, good freshman guards coming in, and have positive momentum heading into the transfer market. Why in the world would a Pitt fan want to scrap that and start at square one again?

I’ve acknowledged that several times… it was amazing getting us to the bubble in year 5. Why shouldn’t I doubt that we should be right there next year with 4 years of shit and one year of bubble worthy performances?

PSU can pay him whatever he wants if they want to. With new TV money coming in, I see them keeping him. Even a school like Nova or UConn cant afford what PSU, Rut, NW can pay. Its sad
You just said in a previous post that you think this is the best Capel can do here. Our recruiting is getting better. Better players make better coaches. 2 stud guards coming in next year and then Cummings the year after.
OK but I've been @ Pitt administration/athletic get togethers but I don't know anything.
