Good teams have a diversity of skills, and they have guys who are exceptionally good at specific skills.
This includes having a guy who is:
a great shot blocker;
a deadly scary 3-point shooter; someone can take anyone off the dribble and drive and score;
a great post up scorer;
a lockdown defender;
a great rebounder;
capable of creating his own space going one-on-one and get off a good shot;
the go-to scorer in the clutch, asks for ball, is the guy the other team is trying to stop.
Bottomline is that Pitt doesn't have a single guy who fits any of these descriptions. Not one. Pitt's players are all legitimate D1 players, but they lack exceptional skills in key areas.
When you read a description of a typical Pitt recruit, the descriptions of their talents all read about the same. Words like hard-nosed, great effort, well rounded, etc. And they all end with the same line: needs to work on his outside shot.
