WVU fan here (and Pitt grad as well),

Having been filled in on Levi's situation during his recruitment at WVU, and subsequent decommitment, I figured I'd share:

Levi's a solid 6'9, 310lbs right now

Huntington Prep's conditioning program is pretty garbage, and it played a big reason in WVU cutting ties.

Levi is EXTREMELY close to his family, in particular his grandmother who lives in Southern WV

It was Levi's family who refused to move Levi to a prep school where he could get better conditioning and weight training this season (particularly his g-ma)

Another aspect to WVU parting ways is that coaches found out Levi had been skipping class at Huntington Prep.......

He doesn't have the test scores as of yet, and grades are an issue - hence the anger about cutting classes by our Staff.

His family is really pushing him to stay close to home - ETSU, VT, or Marshall (again, what grandma wants grandma gets)

Lastly, Levi is incredibly nimble for his size and has great hands and passing ability for a big man. His shooting motion is smooth and fundamentally sound. A real soft shooting touch, which is rare for a guy his size. However, he has yet to show any real desire to get into shape, and has a core group around him that consistently influence this, as they feel he's "perfectly fine the way he is"

lastly, Levi has a GF, who attends Evansville.............. proximity to that school could come into play as well.

The most-likely scenario is that Levi is going to be forced to move to the class of 2016, after a prep season to get his academics in order.

Perhaps Dixon knows this, and is establishing a relationship early.

I saw a few people who I assume are his friends tweet to him about his knee, getting well soon, looking forward to him getting back on the court soon, etc. Do you know anything about that? Thanks.

He does move well for being so big. Even if he came here he would probably either redshirt or at least not play that much.

Thanks. That puts a different spin on what we've heard here.

It has been posted here that his grades were no longer an issue and a recent article on him said he was below 280 and would play next year at 260.

I'm NOT questioning your information. Hype is ever-present and you sound like you're closer to the situation.

That's more than a little disappiinting. I expected him to redshirt here but thought he would at least provide competition in practice for our big juco.

His weight very could be down........ I was told 310lbs around Christmas.

He is a good athlete for that much weight, even at 280lbs

He has always carried his weight pretty well. I doesn't look obese or anything. He just doesn't get into game-shape. His court time couldn't exceed 12-15 minutes a game in the shape he's in now......... WVU pleaded with him to work. Things didn't improve.
