Stillers vs Pats

Agree - NE knows football today is 40 passes a game.

Last season New England was third in the NFL in percentage of running plays. In the playoffs they ran the ball 34 times, then 48 times, then 32 times.

NE knows that football today is doing whatever you need to do to best exploit your opponent. They also probably know that the six teams that passed the ball the most last season (by percentage of plays), in order Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Minnesota, the Giants and Tampa all missed the playoffs.

Nice theory. They are completely dominating our line and we would easily get stuffed. That is the reality of what is actually happening.
Run your 6-5 250 QB behind Pouncy and Decastro, have your TE come of that side to join in the push with Nix and JC. Do it twice if you have to.

You need a score. It doesn't have to be pretty.

Do we have a handshake agreement with New England that we promise not to do anything that might jeopardize Tom Tom's health? Seriously... we can't cover worth an eff; why not just send the house every play?

Brady was 245 of 355 in his ten games against the Steelers before tonight. That is 35'+'passes a game.

Teams with winning records will logically have more running plays, as they will have leads and will be running to kill clock. I think you will see that from NE for the remainder of this game

Shrug. They'd just do it to Ben in retaliation and our season would be done. Even without Brady, they'd still likely go 12-4.

Is anyone here waiting anxiously for Tomlinson platitudes!
It's still too delicate to criticize Tomlin in Pittsburgh, so they'll focus on the Patriots "cheating," and that somehow it was the Steelers distracted by the AB thing in the media (even though they're 2 levels removed from it now).

You'll hear plenty of reference to the Steelers losing 51-0 in game 1 and still making the playoffs (which was in about the last year that Pitt football was still relevant, maybe 1989 or such).

Moncrief will get a lot of criticism (and well deserved... but not for defense). As if he joined the team on his own volition.

It is not just Tomlin. The Coordinator's are fit maybe to coach a High School team. They stink and are just lackeys, it is almost nepotism. Just horrible what this organization has become.

Like I said, here's an example of the difference between the Pats and the Steelers. BEFORE last year's meltdown, the Pats would have traded AB to someone for two #1 picks. The Steelers eat his crap and luckily the Raiders bailed them out for a 3rd and a 5th.

The differences with the organizations in every way, from top down, drafting, coaching, developing, discipline, play calling, etc.....just night and day.

My game summary:

Montcrief is a Jabroni.

My fears on Edmunds are coming true. He stinks, his ceiling is like mediocre Bud Dupree.

Butler is garbage.

Ben should just call his own plays.

I'm not suggesting we take a lead pipe to his knee cap. But a sack would be nice, since it's been proven time and time again that getting knocked around a bit is his kryptonite.

This has got to be the worst game since that one. It looked like Alabama vs. Rutgers. Why did they even bother getting on the plane?

Kevin Colbert is garbage too. So is the OC. So is the DC. And Tomlin is one of the most overrated coaches in NFL history.

Very Washington General-esque performance tonight. Teams have emotional ups and downs during the course of the season, but that should never happen on week 1.

Given the fact that these teams see each other at least once almost every year there is no excuse for coming out so unprepared on both sides of the ball. Hate to start the Tomlin crap already, but in the end it’s on him for this team looking like they were playing preseason game #5.

Tomlin kicking the FG was very Foge Fazio like.

its one game. I hope this is a aberration that can be corrected. If not. Clean house. But I'll give him the year to see if he fixes it. I was never a Randy Fichtner fan though

If you are playing Brady now, you are much better off gambling with very tight man cover and forcing him to make throws. If you sit back and allow crossing routes with rubs, passes to the backs and short outs with loose coverage you are going to lose. Cautious man to man is as bad as zone, Brady will pick you apart.

Dangerous or not, you have to make the old man make small window throws.

I’d say that’s pretty accurate.

Butler is hot garbage and should have been fired. The ONLY away you beat Brady is to get pressure.

The Steelers made the New England D look like the greatest defense every

It all comes down to NE once again out-coaching the Steelers. I like Tomlin but his coordinator hires have been abysmal

New England has great coaches and a great front office. The Steeler's firing Butler over Todd Haley illustrates the quality of our leadership.
Cause and Effect.

I don’t think the defense has remotely the talent level to compete.

Add in they are clueless in the secondary due to bad coaching - but the clear difference is the talent difference between the defenses

So what you are saying is that even though Brady has generally destroyed the Stillers passing the ball over the years he still doesn't average 40 passes a game against them.

Thanks for making my point for me.
