Suffering

We were just talking about their last 3 years. Fiesta Bowl was not a fluke, Pitt was clearly the best team in the Big East. Now whatever you want to say about the Big East, that is what it is.

As for careers, I 100% agree with you. Jamie is the winningest coach in the history of the toughest conference we've ever seen. His career is a billion times better than Walt's, not even comparable. But just comparing the last three years, Walt got fired after doing something that was the goal every single year, no matter how they ended up there. I more than anything want Jamie to say here forever AND win here, but his last 3 years have been horrendous disappointments, that's all I meant by it.

I am sorry.....a 4 way tie with Syracuse on a complete fluke beating BC that caused the 4 way tie that Pitt had a tiebreaker advantage of a 4 way tie (but not a 3 way tie) I just fail to remember that as "clearly the best team" that year. Just to be specific on that comment. As for Walt being "fired", well his agent kind of orchestrated that firing also.

Not disagreeing with you, but how was BC a fluke? Just because it went to OT? Pitt was better than WVU and BC, and WVU may have been the only win we had that could've been considered somewhat flukey. They were even better than Syracuse, but as I said, Walt just handed them that game, plain and simple. I just don't think anyone can argue that one of those other teams should've been there. The problem just was that nobody in the Big East was anywhere near as good as Utah or other teams in the BCS that year.

Yes. But that is not supporting "clearly the best team".

But they were, Including Syracuse.
Hahaha ok. If you wanna say Syracuse was better, that's fine, no matter what happened, they beat us. But especially Boston College, suggesting they were better is flat out insane. And even WVU, like I said, that was the only win that may have been iffy, but we still beat them. I would ask how you think that makes them better, but no offense, I don't even wanna know. I have no problem just simply disagreeing with someone, it's not a big deal. H2P!

Four way tie indicates nobody was clearly better.
That's the point.
I'm disproving the validity of your opinion That Pitt was clearly best. They weren't. Nobody was clearly better.. Hence four way tie.

Actually, there is enough data to argue that BC was the best of a sorry lot. Their season was washed away with one of the greatest WTF loss to Syracuse.
Still amazes me that some on the football board still revere Walt's last team.

There are people on the BB forum who revere Paul Evans teams who only won 1 NCAA tourney game and never even advanced to the BET semis, just because they "recruited McDonald's All Americans". Granted we had Mark Gottfried of the day coaching the BB team the same time Mike Gottfried (who also recruited well and did nothing) was coaching the football team.

Ok that's a valid point. But you just said all three of them were better that year. That wasn't true either. So yeah, that's how we ended up at a 4-way tie.
