This team has issues and they are many. But they had to win and did just enough to win. I’ll take it
We only had three turnovers in the first half, and none in the second half.
It was a win, but we played worse today than we did in some of our recent losses. Maybe the confidence will turn things around, but it feels like this team is deteriorating.
I know we needed that win and I'm glad we somehow pulled it out. But this game shows the obvious lack of fundamentals and coaching we have with this team. We can't rebound, are very soft on defense, no ball movement and slow on offense. Against a bad 'Cuse team. Nothing's changed. We're still not a NCAAT team.
If we play like this against a good team, we lose by double digits. This team has not improved as the year has progressed. That's not good for future games when we play better teams.
Looking at the schedule, I see 6 more wins for Pitt. That gets us to 19 for the season. We need 9 more after this game to make the NCAAT, not including the ACCT. Unless we win the ACCT, our chances of making the NCAAT are not looking good.
Syracuse had 20 offensive boards while Pitt had 22 defensive boards
But the 3 put-backs by Ish (2) and Dunn were key down the stretch as Pitt scored 45 in second half with no turnovers

Any road win is still a good win.
If we're even mediocre rebounding the ball, the game's not close. But unfortunately, we are terrible rebounding the ball.

This team is nowhere close to being as good as last year's team. Cannot rebound at all. Syracuse rebounded 20 of their 47 misses and outrebounded us by 18. But we won and that's all that matters. And even though this team isn't really all that good, we play 5 really bad teams at home, which will take our ACC win total to 9. Just need to beat a couple NIT teams on the road. The schedule gets much easier.

While a win is great tbis was not a performance that inspires confidence thay they’ve addressed their. Biggest issue , soft defense and weak rebounding
As someone else pointed out this performance was not near as good as their Performance against Clemson. In fact I was more optimistic after the Clemson game because Cohern actually played with a pulse
I'm not saying we are a lock for the tournament or anything like that. But right now we are pretty clearly in. And our chance to make the NCAA tournament is much greater than our chance to win the ACC tournament. I mean it's not even close.
We were outrebounded by 17! That's pathetic!! Like you said, just get a few more rebounds, maybe some offensive rebounds and putbacks, and we win going away.
If we play like this the rest of the season against a team with a pulse, we won't be playing after the ACCT.
I think the analytics will like us more than our record due to some good early wins.

Yep, I agree. Capel does not use his bench good at all. Kante and Cummings should be getting 5-6 minutes a half.
Yeah I’m. It debating where we stand now. Just saying that if they don’t clean up the defensive boards they won’t get in the dance. And yes we are not beating Duke to win the ACC tourney So they have to elevate their play from today to have any chance
This is the reality of our current situation. Forget the win totals. The rebounding and defense MUST improve by a huge amount if we are to have any hope of making the Big Dance.
Teams either improve or regress as the season goes on, especially in January and February. We've regressed in January so far. February will tell the tale.

That's a really good point. The one stat that we had today that was great was our lack of turnovers. We protected the ball well. 3 total turnovers in any game is stellar. And you're spot on...if we get our normal 10 or so turnovers, we lose and it wouldn't be close.
We absolutely need to be better.
But if you read this board and you didn't know what the final score of the game was you'd think we'd have lost. By about 20.
We have someone saying they don't think that we'll win many (or even any) road games from here on out, because road games are really hard to win. And yet we just won a road game, and because we didn't win by at least 15 the world is coming to an end.
