You really are ignorant. In 1996, Pitt was worse off than Temple. At least Temple had Chaney and a good basketball program. If Nordenberg and Pederson did not turn things around at that time, then Pitt would be in the AAC right now. They did a great job turning things around by hiring Walt and Howland. The second go around was not good for Steve, but what those two men did between 1996-2003 deserves kudos. We averaged 60k at Heinz and the basketball program was making Sweet 16's in 2003. We will probably never see those 2 things happen together ever again.

Steve was better as a rebuilder. He lacked the confidence and leadership to stay the course through tough times. Thats why he is unemployed.
