Johnny probably just got drunk and lost.
Who's crying? I'm just not sure if any of the kids in his program actually even know who he was, and the fact that he won a NC at Pitt is a bit weird for PSU, but have at it. He's a good man.
pitt-girl, Franklin is a good dude too. I can't name one single person that has met him that feel any other way.

Seriously, TD?????? I responded about Johnny Majors who will always hold a special place in my heart. I could care less about Franklin and anyone who is a Pitt fan should feel the same way.
So you should dislike someone just because they coach at a rival school? That doesn't seem right to me.

Wow TD, you are really reaching here. Yes, I CAN care less about a coach who is actively recruiting against my school. I'm still puzzled why you feel this need to somehow shift my goodwill from a coach who won a National Championship at Pitt to Franklin? What's your point exactly?
My bad. I just thought you were implying that Franklin wasn't a good guy. I love Coach Majors as well. He's an awesome guy with a great personality.
TD, honestly it's hard not to think you have an agenda when my OP said absolutely nothing about Franklin. And regardless, the fact that you feel the need to defend him is certainly somewhat noble, but perhaps....misplaced on a Pitt board?
Yeah? Well, I might be back. Recruiting under Chryst was so depressing, I just got tired of paying to read about updates from MAC level recruits. No sense in paying for something that makes you feel bad as a Pitt fan.
No biggie, Sherrill and JoePa eventually became buddies. I think the tweet, welcoming him to the PSU family, is what sends this out as a jab at Pitt. But while he is a very respected coach, I don't think Majors is held as an icon of Pitt football, largely given how the Majors II era went. This isn't like the Florida coach hosting Bobby Bowden or FSU hosting Spurrier.

Funny Majors wins a National Championship at Pitt, yet Franklin only mentions his success at Tennessee. Yeah, Franklin coached at Vanderbilt so he's probably more familiar with Majors' tenure at Tennessee. But this guy is so creepily paranoid about Pitt, then has a former Pitt coach as a mentor.
I have Johnny in a special place....he got it done and nobody else has been able to...if only we will would have been able to keep him!!
But he just gave an interview from the sidelines of today STATE COLLEGE game where he described his friendship with Frankie and praised him....But also gave a shout out to Pitt and said he will be at the ND game
Some may recall but even Jackie visited with Grandpa and watched them play while giving him an assesment as to what he saw that night over dinner...this was during their 3 yr losing streak...
So point is GOOD for Johnny....

I think it's pretty obvious Johnny will always support Pitt and Tennessee. He just happened to really become a good friend of James when he was at Vanderbilt. Just because James ended up at State College doesn't mean Majors is going to not be friends with him anymore. Heck, I have friends from Penn State even and I absolutely despise PSU. I don't hate Penn State because of the rivalry btw, some of us take sports too seriously if you think Majors befriending James from State College is some huge deal.
No I do not & that includes my youngest brother who is dead to me from August through December. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure not all Nitters are Cultists, apologist or complete jackasses but I've yet to meet one that isn't.
Well Majors must of helped Franklin. Seems Ped st is getting better each week. They just beat Illinois as bad as UNC did.

Majors was interviewed at Penn State game. Interviewer said Majors asked for pay for interview. Nor sure if he was joking or not. Maybe Franklin payed Majors to come to Penn State game. Is majors hurting for money? Majors said he is going to Pitt - Notre Dame game.

Johnny Majors has great charity these days an works hard to promote and raise funds for it. He greatest regret was leaving Pitt to go back to UTeen that evetually Fired him, came back to Pitt, but ended up .500% overall in coaching.
