This oughta get a rise - Johnny Majors with Franklin

Nice picture. National Championship winning coach on the left and National Bullsh!tter coach on the right.

Johnny Majors said he thinks Franklin is a great coach who will win National Championships. Did that anger many of you like it did me?

No that's just coach speak. It's like playing a lousy team. You talk em up knowing deep down inside they stink and don't belong on the field with you.

In this case Johnny is doing the ole coach speak talking about Jimmy Franks knowing inside that he is a smooth talking conman who couldn't hold his clipboard.

So so so happy TD and his Nitter ways are at least off the pay board.

I don't know the guy, so no clue how he acts, but I fully understand dealing with BS on a board you pay cash to frequent. We have a couple of those types on the Michigan boards.

I am unsure if he is still subscribed, but if anyone remembers "Bubba", he was a member of the Michigan boards at one point. It used to make me sick to think that a Michigan fan would spend their time trolling each and every fan base it seemed.

No, Johnny is pushing his charity and being charitable!

Johnny Majors won a National Championship without Ref Guman helping him, 6 Years before Joe Paterno won his first ever, and that is what angered you! LOL!

"pantherzooh2p, post: 475937, member: 19850"]I wasn't alive at that time. I just know Majors voted Franklin over Narduzzi in his 2015 poll. That has to eat you alive.
Correction you might not be alive now either, you act like you are stuck on a Dead Guy somewhere buried under a Scandal without a Statue! LOL!

Yet Johnny works with Sue Paterno on Charities along with Franklin and that makes them far better as people, and you can't stand it! PnnyLiar!

I'm quite sure Majors wasn't serious about being paid. He gets a rise out of doing crazy stuff just to see how the person reacts.

Do you ever go out to watch Pitt games? Are you Southside or Peninsula? Just curious. I'm in Chesapeake.

I usually watch at home. I haven't met any other Pitt fans in the area. There are a ton of Steeler fans here, and I know there is a Steeler Bar in Virginia Beach just off Atlantic Avenue.

I'm Southside. Actually, I live very close to downtown Suffolk. My wife works in NC and I'm all over the 757. One of kiddos takes violin lessons in Chesapeake near the Greenbriar area.

Are you going to the Duke game? I plan on being there.

Funny Majors wins a National Championship at Pitt, yet Franklin only mentions his success at Tennessee. Yeah, Franklin coached at Vanderbilt so he's probably more familiar with Majors' tenure at Tennessee. But this guy is so creepily paranoid about Pitt, then has a former Pitt coach as a mentor.

I went to a Vandy function at a bookstore just off campus back in the summer of either 2012 or 2013. (anyway, it was the year Vandy unveiled their new unis) My kid was getting a poster autographed by Coach Franklin. He shook hands, looked everybody in the eye and made small talk with everybody that was there. Somehow in our conversation I let him know I was a Pitt fan and then he talked about what a great tradition Pitt had and really blew a bunch of smoke up my ass. It was obvious he knows a lot about Pitt football and he has a lot of respect for the Pitt program and its proud history.

In his current situation, its probably best he tone that down because his fanbase doesn't want to hear it and it is probably detrimental to his cause.

TD_Nitter is a deep cover nitter troll.

Who cares what Johnny Red does now. I'm sure Franklin has alterior motives but I don't get that worked up about it.

Riiiiggghht. Just curious, what type of ulterior motive do you think he has? Would it be a classy move on Franklin's part to tell Johnny that they can't associate with each other any longer because he coaches at Penn State? Despite Johnny's status as a Pitt icon, the man is 80 years old and never coached a down of college football in the lifetime of today's recruits. He has basically zero influence. I'm really not sure what type of ulterior motives he could have.

So then I guess that means Paterno really was an ass. "I don't want to leave college football to the Switzers and Sherrills of the world." Sounds like he would have been a great friend who you could really trust.

So you should dislike someone just because they coach at a rival school? That doesn't seem right to me.

You know Jackie Sherrill and his wife spent a weekend with the Paternos a few years back.

It was kind of nice of the announcers to give Pitt some love in the PoSU game too. How often does that happen? I thought it was great hearing about Pitt's national title during a penn state game.

Majors was interviewed at Penn State game. Interviewer said Majors asked for pay for interview. Nor sure if he was joking or not. Maybe Franklin payed Majors to come to Penn State game. Is majors hurting for money? Majors said he is going to Pitt - Notre Dame game.

Majors hasn't been relevant to Pitt nation since before I was born, and I am going on 40.. His second stint in mid 90's was such a debacle, he actually set pitt football back decades, lost whole generation of fans. Let me repeat that, his coaching failures resulted in an Entire Generation not rooting for pitt.. I'd be more interested in quotes from Paul Hackett or Paul Evans than this guy..

As most know, I am a guy that believes in playing rivals, especially historical, local, and regional competition, accept & expect banter, and that makes all the universities better being together and competing in sports among one another.

Paterno let his ego dump the PITT-PSU Game, Pederson dumped WVU-PITT, and Temple was dumped by Tranghese out of the Big East, and the ACC has dumped PITT-ND and BC-ND?

I see nothing wrong in honoring other Schools Fans and Coaches and especially for Charitable Causes? Just my opinion, no offense if others differ!

Good for Johnny and Franklin on being friends! They may be able to bridge the building of having Pitt-Penn State play every year?

You're one of the best posters on here. Keep it up. I enjoy reading about Pitt and the other nearby college teams and also follow high school sports. It makes things more interesting. Everything is not a war between these fabled programs.
