Tim Cluess > Schmidt

Another old guy, but his record is nice. 12 years as a head coach, 19 wins his first year, 20+ every year since then. Far from my first choice, but I could warm up to him.

Better than Schmidt. I could at least buy this because of his track record of making the NCAA. Praying he becomes our version of Jim Larranaga IF hired.
I'm feeling the same way. I've often heard his name, but never really looked into his record. He's quite a bit better than I assumed. I like a guy who always wins. No losing seasons in his record.

Cluess comes from a good basketball tree. Never on losing teams as a player. Played for legendary NYC H.S. Coach Jack Curran at Archbishop Molloy in Queens, (Miami's Larranga also played for Jack Curran). Then played for Louie Carnesecca at St. John's. So, I wouldn't doubt his Xs and Os ability and knowing what it takes to win--given adequate talent to coach. The only question in my mind would be whether he can recruit at the ACC level.

Agree that he’s better than Schmidt, but does anyone watch the style they play?

If he does that in the ACC with what figures to be a lousy roster we are going to see Pitt lose some 120-70 games for the first year at least.

Neither would be thrilling, but cluess is worlds better than Schmidt, it's not even close.
