Watt could have just said he is happy to be in Pittsburgh and didn’t have to go in detail with his response if he was lying. Madden is an attention whore who just likes to stir the pot. Time to flush that turd.

I’m going with Madden on this one. Nothing against Watt, but Madden, whether you like him or not, is usually dead on when he reports something. He doesn’t report news as part of his “show”, and he doesn’t do this often. He was the first about Bell, AB, and remember, he was the first to say anything about the scandal at PSU, weeks before it hit the fan.

I’m going with Madden on this one. Nothing against Watt said:
Except when he said he heard from another reporter that Sunduskey was pimping kids to Board of Trustee members. Anyone who knows anything about journalism knows this was a false claim. because
1) If any semblance of truth the supposed reporter would have a Pulitzer and a career building story. You don't share those at all.
2) If true, Madden should have wondered why this reporter hasn't said anything before unless he didn't have the facts confirmed which means Madden's story wasn't confirmed.
3) Never followed up even though the story went national, even to the Rush Limbaugh Show.

Let’s be serious. Tom Bradley just got fired and has an axe to grind. Bradley tells Madden that Watt had issues with the Steelers. Madden runs to Twitter gleefully to stir the pot.

Madden doubling down and saying he’s right. I mean, maybe. He annoys me, but so too have so many of the Steelers and their antics since that SB loss to Green Bay.

and yes... I was just about to say before the post above me popped up while I was typing this... Tom Bradley, whom Madden has gone on about hanging out with “Scrap” at the Bottleshop, had to be his source. So take that for what it’s worth. He claims allegiance to no football team, incessantly trashes the Steelers, Pitt, Penn St, etc. but still has his few old football coach buddies.

What's that you say Tom?

I agree about the turd part but I’m glad Watt called him out. It’s about time one of the Steelers did. Being a jagoff used to be Madden’s gimmick. I’m not so sure it’s a gimmick anymore.
This is perfect for Madden. Watt’s really popular with the fans, so Madden as the villain takes shots at the good guy. The guys like 60 years old, and he’s still trying to live out his fantasy of being the bad guy WWF wrestler or manager taking on the good guy. Pretty pathetic.

I’m with Madden on this. I’d have to think there’s some truth to it. And honestly, I’m not shocked at TJ’s alleged frustrations. I would be too. But I’d also be professional about it. Whatever TJ’s perceived level of professionalism was...only those in the locker room would know. But I’m not surprised Pittsburgers would rather believe Watt.

If you recall, Madden immediately clammed up on this story and never mentioned it again. That reeks of someone carefully explaining to Madden that if he says another word he would end up next to Ray Grecar's laptop. This story had legs and had to be contained. Many very powerful people involved.

I think it's hilarious that this thread managed to get a hit invoking the PSU truther defense. The "evidence" is pretty comical and I'm pretty amazed this is still a thing.

Anyway, so far as Madden and his antics, it wouldn't shock me to find out this is true. Not because I think MM is a trustworthy source but because the locker room has a bit of a circus element to it anymore. We'll see if any of the beat guys try to refute the story because that's most likely where he heard it.

As for Watt, he completely disappeared when he played Cleveland this year. Jack Conklin is really good but was playing hurt in the playoff game and had to be removed. A couple of backups still kept Watt in check. I understand that Cleveland was attacking a pretty crummy, patchwork, LB-ing group with short passes all day and the Steelers really didn't attack Mayfield, but even one-on-one in pure pass sets, Watt didn't do much of anything against a guy he should have been beating (after Conklin left). It's not like Cleveland took their foot off the pedal and just ran the ball either.

Mark Madden has managed to accomplish something that few have in the past, and that is me muting his Twitter account. I just don't feel like I want to be part of his wrestling bad guy schtick.

My comments here, is "so what". So what if that happened. Madden has such a hard on for the Steelers and Pirates, he is playing the villain. He loves it, I just am not going to be part of the 14 year old antics (haven't watched pro wrestling since college days) but I recognize the antics. MM has parlayed this into success. Good for him.

But these stuff, the fact that he basically has run JJSS out of town is just childish.

No doubt he beat the JJSS issue to death. He thinks it makes him more relevant and it garners higher ratings. It doesn’t. He gets ratings because he is entertaining for most and inarguably more talented than anyone he’s competed against. But what he doesn’t understand is his ratings would still be high and likely even higher if he knew when to take his foot off the pedal a bit. His Twitter is unbearable. His buddy Chris Jericho always said that he knew when a gimmick was stale and when to create another way to stay fresh. Madden needs to take a page out of his buddies book and he should have ditched the Juju gimmick 18 months ago.

Mark madden is garbage. Anyone that puts any stock in to anything he says has a low sports IQ. He has made a living gaslighting yinzers so good for him..but he has very little sports knowledge outside of the NHL and “pro wrestling”. He has said himself that his talent is in running a radio not actual sports talk.

He’s even laughed in the past at intentionally riling up Pitt hoops fans by inflating Dixon rumors almost yearly.

dude had it after Hines in the early2000s calling him “whines hard”, now JUJU. He sucks.

If you believe Mark Madden's heel promos... there are still marks out there and it's still real to them dammit

It's really hard to be as blacklisted from pro rasslin as Mark is, no one wants anything to do with him unless they're getting paid for an interview on his radio show. That should tell you all you need to know about him, he is too carny and scummy for the carnyest, scummiest industry outside of I dont know a traveling Balkan circus in a D list horror movie or something

Why would you have to think that?

I can’t believe that people are taking the words over Mark Madden over TJ Watt who is a consummate pro and has had nobody ever question his work ethic and morales. Then Watt comes out and emphatically DENIES IT and PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE MARK MADDEN.

I’m going to love watching the mental gymnastics he goes through to turn TJ Watt into a villain...

Yeah but TJ yelled at Keith Butler on the sideline for four whole seconds one time a few months ago, that clearly means the Super Genius is right and we yinzer yobs are stupid and wrong.

I'm not a psychologist, nor did I stay in the Holiday Inn. But his mean spiritedness has amped up in the last year (which is why I have tuned him out) and what I have heard from him, it is a lonely, 60 year old man, without family, without real friends, who's lifestyle has been impacted by COVID and he is taking out his anger and frustration more on his listener's and local athletes.

Thanks for the psycho analysis. But you’re probably rite.

agree, his twitter feed anymore is just fighting with the trolls. He used to mute and ignore, but now he is back to engaging them and it is almost unreadable.

But he was always mean spirited. His attacks on Myron, Bettis, Bruno, Hines happened well before last year. I think he has really become more mean spirited towards the Steelers (and also Pitt). It's almost like he hopes they lose to generate controversy to boost his ratings.

He's been doing this Juju gimmick for at least 20 years. He always has at least one prominent Steelers player that he will stir up "controversy" about on a slow news day. He did it with Bettis for a while, then Hines Ward, then AB, then Bell, now Juju, and he's been getting started on Claypool as a backup plan if/when Juju leaves.

and I thought the Bettis thing was basically started over a misunderstanding. Bettis was supposed to be on his show, called kind of last minute to reschedule due to a conflict and even offered some additional make up times. Madden took this as a slight and has been on his case ever since.

I said this before on (can't remember on here or the old scout board) but it bears repeating in a Madden thread. My brother in law went to Duquense and played in the intermural hockey league they had. My brother in law always says outside of few friends on his team, he cannot name one person from that league other than Mark Madden because he was that big of an A-H*le even back then. The moral of the story is that he really is that miserable and that much of an A=H*le. What you listen to is not a gimmick, that is why he can't change it. It is who he actually is. Recruits is probably very correct in why he got more miserable in the past year. When you sow nothing in terms of family or real friends, it tends to be very miserable.

I played in local Dek Hockey leagues in the late 80's, early 90's, and he was a big deal running the Penn Hills League. But when they first mentioned him and I saw him, I thought they called him "Madden" as a resemblance to John Madden the ex Raiders coach. (What did I know?)

The shame about him, when he is not doing his schtick or his personal vendetta's, he has a pretty solid, rational, "common sense" take on many things, outside of sports. But I ain't wading through all the BS to hear it.

I played at Penn Hills from 92-98 or so (before moving to Murrysville). If I recall correctly, think I played in the "D" league. And again, if I recall correctly, there were different levels of "D," from true beginner, to teams with decent teams with some pretty good players. I think I played in all levels of D.

Nonetheless, what's the chance we played against each other?

Madden is jealous that JuJu’s bicycle Twitter account is more popular than his
He's OBSESSED with JuJu! His Facebook feed is 90% about how the main reason the Steelers lost 5-6 at the end was because JuJu (AB2) was on TikTok and he turned Claypool into AB3.

That's AB Junior Junior to you

Or is it Junior Junior Junior now

Double M is an incredibly lonely person and it would be sad but hes such a jerk it isnt. Overcompensating on the be a jerk to get attention defense mechanism. Always talking about how he goes to Vegas eats good food sees good shows but nary a mention of enjoying that time with other people. Only the lonely

Make that three of us then. I played on multiple D league teams and in C league, anywhere from 1989 - 98. Also played at least one year at Murrysville and a few years at 279 near Camp Horn.

Played against Madden several times early on. He couldn't move, but had a decent shot and could pass.

I quit listening to Madden years ago. I got real tired of his wrestling shtick. He constantly beats his chest picking on various Steelers.

Before I go further I will say I am a diehard Steeler and Penguin fan. So saying this

Did Madden say anything about the sexual assault case with the former Wilkes Barre coach and recently that the Penguins were the only pro sport franchise to use a covid relief loan?

If I remember, he had a thing against Willie Stargell too. He loved to say how much better Barry Bonds was then Roberto Clemente, just because Roberto was loved. It really is pathetic how long he has been pretending to be the professional wrestling heel, even though he wasn’t in professional wrestling.

He was involved with wrestling.
