Toney gone...

He didn't screw Pitt. He's not the reason Pitt basketball is where it's at today.
Yes he did screw Pitt. Fiddled around for 2 years with big paychecks, then yawned his way to a buyout. (Stil in court or settled?)
He was partner to the crooked deal with Barnes, put us in a worse hole. But SP & Gallagher screwed the pooch.

Luther loved Stallings. Remember we thought he had Stockholm Syndrome.

Stallings Year 3 of
Carr
Stewart
JWF
Luther
Golden

would beat Capel Year 4 by 30

Hahaha wow... I forgot just how bad things were back then...

Femi
Horton
Jeffress
Collier
AKC

competes with that team. And we’re going to add 3-5 guys to our team, 2-3 of which will start. Sheesh those days were so bad. Don’t even compare them to now

Pitt is where it's at due to poor leadership. A lot of people can shoulder the blame.

I don't think there was any crooked deal with Barnes. I highly doubt Stallings was the first choice to replace Dixon.

They just happen to have the same agent -
And Barnes bolted soon after
Worst all time hire
Stalling is a complete failure who is only worshipped by bald idiots

Hold up. You think those 5 beat Stallings Year 3?

Capel just lost control of the team. And there was some childish infighting involving X and Toney and it involved someone's girlfriend. Plus there were Dads getting involved. Pretty immature stuff. But when the coach can't control his team and that is the culture he developed, this is the result. It's all on Capel in the end.

Neither one of those 5 stick out to me. Both stink. The difference is those were the best 5 players on Stallings’ Year 3 roster, meanwhile those won’t be the 5 best in Capel Year 4. And Champagnie could still be included too.

Champ would be totally nuts to stick around now. This team might win 1 ACC game next year.

Haha. Lots of coaches and AD's have the same agent. Lots of ADs have the same agent that represent both the coach leaving and the coaching coming in. That isn't unusual at all.

From what I’ve heard, don’t expect all 5 of those dudes back

Lol. You think Champagnie might come back. That's cute. Even if he decides against the NBA, he is certainly going to transfer up.

Dude. Shut up. I don’t think he will. There’s a chance. I have no idea and neither you do. Nothing worse than this act where you talk in certainties about things you know nothing about.

Everybody will guess Jeffress or Horton, but I’m going to guess Collier leaves. You seem to be connected to him IIRC
Not the one I heard. I think u can deduce which one the 2 I’m referring to from there.

And itis just a rumor right now. But nothing would surprise me after last 2 days.

You are religious devoted to a historic failure

I'm not devoted to any coach. And I consider myself a bandwagon Pitt basketball fan. I can take it or leave it. I'll jump on the bandwagon if they are winning. They haven't been worth following closely since 2011.

That said, I was saying at the time it was a stupid move to get rid of Jamie. But tbh, I don't know to this day if he left on his own or if he was pushed out. Regardless, if he had good product back in 2016, he wouldn't have been in a position to be pushed by a newbie AD only on the job for a year or two.

Haha I meant the 2 left that u didn’t mention..

Now that is interesting... neither Femi or AKC leaving really makes any sense to me either. Femi is looking at being an ACC starting PG and AKC seemed to finally get comfortable here after the language problems last year and is at least serviceable. Guess it would be more because of the off the court stuff but those guys seem low maintenance

Take it with a grain of salt of course. But sharks are circling. Lots of back channeling going on at this point.

If the sharks are circling for Femi then maybe he’s better than you gave him credit for all along ;)

But yeah, I mean it makes sense for anyone on this team to think about escaping the circus and getting on a winning team... although I’d hope WE would be the ones using the back channels and putting a team together for next year

I have no idea who is going after him, but that is
funny.

It took about 48 hours. Stallings was done for the year/career at Vandy. The "agent" was a former Vandy AD, I believe. Nahh, that wouldn't be possible. Miler was toxic except to the jackals, and wasn't interested. Gallagher let Barnes do it all. No chance that $$ was exchanged, agents don't do that.

They're leaving because they know they could do better somewhere else and actually get to a tournament.

I have no doubt that Toney could play for a winning/tourney team and contribute significantly as a role player.

But I do think that anywhere Xavier would start or get significant minutes at the 1 or 2 spot (which are likely the only destinations he'd consider) are not going to be teams that are very good to begin with. And he's not going to make them better either. It was the same with Trey. Nebraska might have been one of only 3-4 other major division D1 schools he would have gotten minutes at, and likely none of those would be tournament caliber (if even, winning) teams either.

No. There isnt a chance. If doesn't go to the NBA, he still wont be here next year. Kentucky and Kansas are nice options you know. Remember, I'm good at this.

Agents get a commission, and AD's often turn to their own agent, who is usually someone they trust, for input in coaching searches. There is nothing unusual or unethical about that. Most ADs at schools like Pitt aren't the sole decision maker when it comes to hiring/firing coaches for the high profile sports. I would find very hard, to almost impossible to believe that Barnes was able to push Jamie out the door without some influential boosters signing off on it. And I have zero inside info, so I don't know if his departure was encouraged or if he just wanted a fresh start at his alma mater. And I'm quite certain Barnes would not have been in any position to nudge Jamie out the door if Jamie were still winning big and the fanbase was energized behind him.

This kind of stuff shows how not having to sit out a year is a problem. These kids have nothing to think twice about. And, IMHO, it hurts programs like Pitt which need continuity to win consistently.
