This has been fun to watch. Hoping USA can hold on in the final quarter.
this olympic performance by KD has really made me respect him a lot more. There was really no reason for him to play especially just coming back after the achilles injury… and he went and DOMINATED and played like 30 min a game. Props to him. Most talented scorer to ever play the game.
Wish I knew it was on. I just couldn’t get into the Olympics due to them being held on the other side of the world. So I was in bed. But Durant was certainly one to root for. In fact, most of them were. These guys didn’t have to play but wanted to. Glad KD stepped up and played so well.
Glad they proved me wrong on winning the gold. I was rooting for them while watching the game. I didn't want to see the players get labeled with the narrative that they lost the Olympics.
It was a bit climactic in the end though with Dame missing both his free throws and then USA turnover on the next possession.

I’m a huge Dame fan but he did not have a great Olympics and those two missed three throws ... hmmm.
But the US really committed to the defensive end and that was the difference. But many of them were missing shots that they usually make, sometimes badly, and this includes Dame for sure.
I thought that KD should have shot more in the 4th Qtr. Too bad about Dame; end of 4th free throws have most pressure--like putts on the 18th green.

As I noted in the other thread, he took (and missed) a shot on the first US possession of the 4th quarter, and then did not get one more shot attempt from the field the rest of the game. It was as if some of the US players completely forgot who the best player on the court was.
KD didn't perform just this
year.
He did it 2012, and 2016.
He also was a star in those
olympics. In fact he averaged
19ppg. in 2012, 19 again in
2016, and 19 again in 2021.
He must like the # 19. LOL
He was the leading scorer
on ALL of those teams.
2012 had Labron and a much
younger Carmelo Anthony.
2016 had Irving and others.
He isn't too big of a star, or
too full of himself not to
play for his country time and
time again. He's got my respect.
