Where is my man, Zardes? All that dude does is score goals.
Berhalter is gone if we lose to Honduras. I suppose he keeps his job with a draw but not sure he should. 3 points out of 3 games against El Salvador, Canada, and Honduras would be embarrassingly bad.
They play different positions. In meaningless games against bad teams, sure.
He's not here at least in part because he is hurt. He may or may not have been here anyway (I'd guess he probably would be), but you can't play guys who are hurt.
And if you think he's a better soccer player than Aaronson (and really, all four of the guys on your list) then you really don't know what you are watching.
The announcers were begging for subs. I thought Buchanan and David were injured because they are arguably their 2nd and 3rd best players and Canada brings them on and has Buchanan running up and down the right side untouched. They're lucky they didnt concede another. And Berhalter does nothing. That's highly unlikely.
I just think it was good that someone finally woke him up 83 minutes into the game so he could finally getting around to making some subs. Three games in seven days, guys obviously running out of steam, and he makes his first non-injury subs in the 83rd minute. After talking numerous times leading up to these games about how it was going to be important to manage player's minutes.
Surely he must have been asleep, because that's the only way that it makes sense.
It is. When you start a striker from the Swiss League and leave off your striker from La Liga and don't play your 18 year old wunderkind from FC Dallas, you deserve it. I am shocked we even scored 1 goal with that abortion of a lineup. Not to mention your Premier League striker only gets 7 minutes. Where was Yunus Musah from La Liga. Berhalter started a B team last night with Pulisic, Adams, Brooks, and Dest. DisgracefulA home tie to Canada is about the equivalent of a loss in concacaf qualifying.
Turner has proven to be as good, if not better than SteffenAnd now, back to US Soccer. Gio Reyna is out both tonight and against Honduras with a hamstring strain. Weston McKennie is sitting out tonight's game for violating team rules. Zach Steffen has tested positive for covid and is out of both of the next two games. That'll make things a little bit harder.
There was nothing Turner could do on that goal, just a great play by CanadaUSA! USA! USA! Another WC and how USA soccer is going to finally become a serious player and well, yeah....can Rapinoe play for this team? I mean she is somewhat gender neutral. At least she has some offensive creativity.
If you think Pitt FB is perennially disappointing.....I's gots some news for you. Follow the US Mens's National Team.
Then again, holding Canada to one goal with Crosby, McDavid, Mackinnon et al is not too shabby. Oh wait.......
Yes. But....what the US could have done is like, you know, scored another goal. Or on an obviously humid night where Canada was using all of its subs...to you know, sub a guy or two. Not waiting with about 8 minutes left. There was nothing Turner could do on that goal, just a great play by Canada
I'm only talking about that one play, of course scoring another goal is what they needed. DuhYes. But....what the US could have done is like, you know, scored another goal. Or on an obviously humid night where Canada was using all of its subs...to you know, sub a guy or two. Not waiting with about 8 minutes left.
Didn't realize he's hurt but not sure why Hoppe was left off.
Turner has proven to be as good, if not better than Steffen

They should of brought Zardes. he sucks, has poor touch, poor quality, doesn't play in Europe, plays in MLS because he sucks and has poor touch and poor quality, but somehow he always energized the team and DID SOMETHING.
In the Gold Cup he provided a spark every time he came inAs was pointed out to you before, Zardes only actually DOES SOMETHING when the US plays meaningless games against low level competition. When he plays big games against good teams he completely disappears, just like he did in the Gold Cup.
And of course since he is hurt, I'm not sure why you think he should have been on the team in any event.
GK is a position where playing in Europe matters less, Turner playing full 90 minute games every week makes him more ready than Steffen who usually rides the bench. No, he's not. One of the is good enough to be Man City's backup and play the occasional game for them. The other is not.
If Steffen hadn't gotten injured and then got covid he would have been the one playing in these games.
By who? YOU? You're nothing, not any sort of authority I have any reason to respect LOLAs was pointed out to you before,
I’m going to slightly disagree, only to say Turner is a superior shot stopper to Steffen but inferior with his feet. Turner isn’t in Europe because of his out of nowhere ascension. He will be there soon enough. No, he's not. One of the is good enough to be Man City's backup and play the occasional game for them. The other is not.

Once Turner gets on a European team, these soccer snob types will suddenly start saying he's good, he sucks now since he's an MLS loser, but if he's 3rd string at Leeds United next week, suddenly he's good LOLI’m going to slightly disagree, only to say Turner is a superior shot stopper to Steffen but inferior with his feet. Turner isn’t in Europe because of his out of nowhere ascension. He will be there soon enough.
Well the game tying goal was created by the best player that either country has in their pool. Davies/McDavid comparisons may not be apples to apples, but if not for Davies abusing a washed up slower reserve who was only playing because Dest got hurt, we win that game 1-0. Our backline was very organized and effective otherwise. We played 2/3 of that game without Reyna, McKinnie, and Dest. That’s three of our top 5 players. Then again, holding Canada to one goal with Crosby, McDavid, Mackinnon et al is not too shabby. Oh wait.......
I don’t hear anyone in the soccer community downplaying Turner’s ability. He’s just had a quick rise to relevance. Dude played college at Fairfield for goodness sakes. And didn’t have much club experience. He’s a late bloomer.Once Turner gets on a European team, these soccer snob types will suddenly start saying he's good, he sucks now, but if he's 3rd string at Leeds United next week, suddenly he's good LOL
No, people assume Steffen is better because he's a back up at Man City, and only because of that, I've watched all the USMNT games this year, and from observation Turner is better. Turner may not be better with his feet, but even there Steffen isn't better by much, Steffen has had more shaky plays than Turner IMOI don’t hear anyone in the soccer community downplaying Turner’s ability. He’s just had a quick rise to relevance. Dude played college at Fairfield for goodness sakes. And didn’t have much club experience. He’s a late bloomer.
The announcers don’t always know what they are talking about. If not for 3 games in a week, then there’s no other reason. You don’t sub because a guy hasn’t got it done yet in a game. You sub because you think you can impact the game with who you bring in. Who would have impacted the game? The announcers were begging for subs. I thought Buchanan and David were injured because they are arguably their 2nd and 3rd best players and Canada brings them on and has Buchanan running up and down the right side untouched. They're lucky they didnt concede another. And Berhalter does nothing.
2 points out of 3 games screams incompetence. Lets be honest. Most of us could have gotten 2 points in these 3 games had we been the manager. If that's all Berhalter can do, clearly he isn't qualified

Another thing and tell me if you think I'm wrong, but GK is different from field player, GK can start later, or come up from lesser competition. USA was producing pro GKs to Europe, even when there was no MLS, when USA didn't even have any real soccer, they produced GKs. I grew up never even seeing a soccer game in person, even a kids game until I was in my 20s, it didn't exist at all for me growing up, and I played GK on a rec team, at Pitt actually, in my 20's with some guys that had played college soccer on my team, and did OK-was a great experience in that I saw the game first hand and learned to like it-before that I was a soccer hating Yinzer, when I tried to actually play soccer I was about to quit, I volunteered to play GK because honestly it's different from playing in the field and I could catch a ball or block it, but not dribble it with anyone within 20 feet, Turner was a baseball player and had hand eye coordination, probably why he makes those quick saves, it's different in a lot of ways, so IMO him not being on elite travel or academy teams is not as big a deal as for a MF or striker.I don’t hear anyone in the soccer community downplaying Turner’s ability. He’s just had a quick rise to relevance. Dude played college at Fairfield for goodness sakes. And didn’t have much club experience. He’s a late bloomer.
Injuries to mid-tier national team players, no I dont. He's hurt too.
Seriously, do you pay any attention to this stuff?
Sargent. He may not be great but Pefok is awful. There is a reason he is playing in a league that is the rough equivalent of MLS.The announcers don’t always know what they are talking about. If not for 3 games in a week, then there’s no other reason. You don’t sub because a guy hasn’t got it done yet in a game. You sub because you think you can impact the game with who you bring in. Your BS is tiresome, LOL. It's basically, he doesn't train against a Premier League 2nd team, he must suck.In meaningless games against bad teams, sure.

I played GK in an adult rec league, for 3 years, playing soccer for the first time ever at age 28, so I have played soccer at some level, LOL. But that F word is probably NOT COOL with the woke AdminsSoccer fags, I love my soccer fags, they go 1 v 1 on these topics, my favorite soccer fags.
You guys never have played soccer at any kind of level, yet you are all experts. I just know this, soccer, like all sports, is a results oriented sport. And the USA is not getting results. Again.
I'll be more esoteric. Losing programs/teams/organizations (as we Pitt fans can attest) find reasons and excuses on why to fail. And fans justify this. Winning programs/teams/organizations, find ways to succeed.
I’m offended!!!!Soccer fags, I love my soccer fags, they go 1 v 1 on these topics, my favorite soccer fags.

With David and Buchanan being 2 of their best players, I'm pretty sure the Canada plan was to rest them for a much more winnable game vs El Salvador. I think Canada would tell you they were pretty shocked to be 1-1 in midway through the 2nd Half without those 2 so they thought, what the hell, lets put these guys in and maybe win this game.I think after the Canadians scored and they brought on David and Buchanan they clearly had more energy than the US did. The US needed something to change the flow of the game. Now you could argue that they didn't need to make substitutions to try to do that, they could have changed formations or they could have changed the way they were playing (especially attacking), but they didn't do that either.
They needed to do something to change the game, and they didn't.
