Pitt got creamed by one of the best teams in the country today.
Last year Duzz beats the Peds and incredibly upset Clemson at home.
This year - New Qb, new OC, new RB, top players on suspension etc etc.
League play hasn't even started.
Bunch of crybabies on this board

At least expectations are now realistic.

No real surprise on the record, or overreaction from this pathetic fan base. We lost a lot of players to graduation, injuries, and suspension.

Voice of reason I suppose..
OSU is good !

Im not surprised at all....but then.....in another "name that score" thread, I said OSU 40-17.

The best part of the game for me was when Hamlin came in......and it occurred to me that the most seasoned Narduzzi recruits are redshirt freshmen. Let that sink in.

The defensive players on the field in the 3rd-4rth quarter are going to be the cornerstone of this program coming back from the plague of mediocrity. Not Briggs, not Zeise....but Hamlin, Camp, Pine, et al.

Anyone that thinks Pitt is immune from a down year......or that the future isnt bright (particularly on D) is clueless.

Narduzzi will finish this and Pitt will be back.

I'm surprised that any good player is being red shirted. That just tells me they aren't as good as the guys that are on the field.

Honestly yes.....when it was 35-0 or whatever I couldn't believe my own two eyes... I guess that qualifies as some form of surprise and shock and the ineptitude I was witnessing

More sobering than surprising. I expected it to at least be a bit competitive at first. But it was so easy for OSU. They could have scored 80 or more if they chose. Yet i don't think anyone here would say they will be that dominant against anyone else. They're good but not that good. So that just means, well, we really stink. Sobering.

Was not surprised it wasn't close. I expected a loss and figured it would be over before the 4th quarter. That said I didn't expect a complete beat down like Pitt got today. I figured it would be 42 to 21 or 49 to 28. But that Pitt would hang around for a half before OSU pulled away

We're that good. Rather than trying to demean yourself by demeaning us, why don't you make the point that Mason Rudolph, in his career, has thrown for 9,849 yards, and that more than 10% of those yards have come in just two games against Pitt and Narduzzi defenses? That makes your point without dissing us.

I was completely surprised by the very poor tackling.

I think "disappointed " is a better term.
The defense has been consistently and unexpectedly awful under Narduzzi.
The failure to recruit and develope a QB has been very disappointing.

This is a rebuilding year.
Hope the team can bounce back and be better next year.
So far after 3 games it a big disappointment.

OSU is real

Looking down their sideline...they are men. Watching their QB and Washington is a thing of beauty.

Its my hope they run the table and get to the FF.

Hell YES. I was shocked and Narduzzi should be sick to his stomach. 35 - 0 after 15 minutes ???? You have to be kidding. 500 yards passing and 4 receivers with over 100 yards ???? You have to be F$#king kidding.

I was surprised. South Alabama put up a better fight against them than we did. I watched that game. Let that sink in.

We are ECU/BC/WAKE all rolled into one.

Maybe that's the solution. Roll us together with a couple other mediocre programs and see what we could do. Kind of like the Steagles. You could probably make a decent team if you combined our best players with the best ECU and BC players.

No. My prediction was 49-14
The disappointing aspect of the game was how we got beat, how easy it was for OSU to run up and down the field at will!
PITT players missed tackles, missed assignments, missed blocks, dropped balls, etc. They looked like they were never in the game or even remotely competitive.

The team looked unprepared! PITT couldnt execute a fair catch, or kick a FG when pts were needed to atleast look modately competitive!

In the late stages of the game OSU had their backups in and they still outclassed us?
OSU could have scored 80 + pts if they wanted to.

Unfortunately this was worse than a usual "beatdown" by a ranked team!

Not surprised we lost but surprised that we offered no resistance. I don't think Pine Richland would have looked much worse against OSU than Pitt did yesterday.....that was pathetic and embarrassing!

Wait...so you expected the following?

Screen_Shot_2017_09_16_at_1.47.24_PM.png

Someday Pitt will hire a coach that understands things like nickle and dime defenses, and then maybe then when we play against teams that want to throw the ball all over the park we won't stay in our base defense and try to cover one of the best receiving corps in the country with one of the best quarterbacks in the country throwing them the ball with safeties and linebackers.

Of course I've been saying that for decades, through multiple head coaches and defensive coordinators and we still don't understand it, so maybe not.

This coming from the idiot that is screaming for Wanny to come back. I now know what posters mean by self-loathing Yinzers. Please go skydiving without a parachute.

I don't want Wanny back you dumbass, it's way past that. We need to hire a head coach that is hungry , can recruit , but first give Duzz a chance to right the ship

Narduzzi deserves at least 5 years, and that includes full support from the fans and the administration.

Wasn't surprised - just disappointed.
Pitt gave all it had against the Peds.
A let down was expected.

Is anyone that surprised about the poor defense? - saw it all last year.
Was anyone really surprised Browne didn't get any better in a weeks time?
DiNucci needs way more playing time. So far he doesn't look like the answer.

Hmmmm lets see

"Wanny should still be here, he was able to build a program on a .50 cent budget, that was impressive in itself, to win with the Pitt administration tying your hands behind your back."

What a faaacking imbecile. You post over 100 posts yesterday, all meaningless and noone cares. You're supposedly a dad, so go take Junior out to the park and feed ducks or something. Or, go to the VT boards where you belong and slurp on Fuente and wank to Beamer. And take Wannys #9 class with you. Hahahahahahahahaha

Yes I was stunned and surprised that Pitt gave up 7 straight possessions in which ,wo Turnovers or big penalties , OkieSt went through Pitt like stuff through a goose.
W/O one spark from Pitt's O in return.
Don't believe that ever happened to a Duzz team.
And Oakie could have scored 70 plus had it wanted.

This was a nightmare
A throwback to Carl DePizza, JM II

ONE THING , to hold onto :

It was a first for Duzz and hopefully it is never seen again.

Why does anyone deserve anything do we as a fan base deserve anything in return? Your asking people to be patient and attend every game and spend all day for some of us getting to and from the game so do I deserve something for my efforts - answer is no no one deserves anything. I agree he needs more than this year but one 10 win season is 30 years makes it really tough for anyone to make a commitment to this until some results are shown that we are serious about playing Division 1 football.

True, especially in a pro-town it is very difficult to retain fans during constant rebuilding. But what else can we do? Unless the bottom drops out next year, we have to stay the course at least 5 years. One thing to look at.....Holgy was 4-8 in year 3 and on very thin ice and has made a nice recovery. Next year is when we need to see improvements.

Agree being one of like 5 options for sports entertainment is a tough thing and totally agree firing Narduzzi isn't the right move he does need some more time I just don't like hearing people say anyone deserves anything. I also agree next year is a huge year for him we need a solid season show some improved recruiting and build on that but if it doesn't happen I don't know what the answer is. My biggest disappointment is just how bad the defense has been when our coach was thought of as one of the premier DC's in the country. There are no easy fixes for sure but it all starts getting some good recruits in here.

Right!!! For those that want Duzz gone, welp, okay, so who ya gonna bring in? And are you willing to let Lyke , et.al do the hiring? Yeaaaah, lets let Duzz stay awhile more.

Wasnt MSU defense ranked poorly in his third year, almost to the tune of where we are now? I get that was the Fat10 and we are in ACC, but come on, we should be able to compete with VT or Miami for the division title yearly. I am still cautiously optimistic with Duzz. Did anyone think Mason Rudolph wasnt gonna come to town and put on an aerial show? I now hope Steelers draft him and make him the heir apparent to Ben.
