Weak Year for ACC 2

Miami has an outstanding coach and outstanding trio of guards, those things are what win in March
They do. (Amazingly this Moore’s 4th D-1 stop as a player: Cal, Kansas, DePaul, now Miami ).

And they also have some other things besides those guards. The big Kiwi @ 6’10”. Rodney Miller @ 7’. Anthony Walker @ 6’9”.

So noticeable with the successful teams in the NCAAT is the PG play: ball handling; penetrating; passing. Miami had 7 or 8 TO’s just in the 1H last night (they had been a averaging under 10 per game). But they corrected that in the 2H (only 3 I think I heard) and when they did they pulled away.

The St. Peter’s guards, Shead from Houston, Moore, RJ Davis. All of those guys are a treat to watch run the show. The hoops equivalents of a top notch FB QB.

Absolutely, wish we had 1 capable guard

Was really impressed with Waardenburg as a ball handler and passer. Thought he was valuable in setting up others. 13 points. 5 assists. 3 made 3 pointers. 8 rebounds, all on the def end because he was playing out front on offense. Would love to see Pitt to add a 6’10” player with his skill set and athleticism. Gonna need someone to replace Gueye.

And Jim Larranaga can coach. Miami went through a rough patch last season but he found a way to turn it around. Fast!

He got George Mason to the FF about 15 years ago. Not easy to do that. He’s 72 but just signed a 2 year extension through the ‘25-‘26 season and looks like he still has the energy and drive to coach at a high level.
