Hamilton had a look I could live with normally, but it sucked that all three guards passed up similar shots.
Johnson needs a word with himself. Very poor showing. Selfish actually.
X and Trey are so damn selfish it really is gonna costs this team so many more games it really shouldn’t. This is one today
Maybe one of the most frustrating games only because this is a Wake Forest team we should have destroyed.
That second to last possession by Johnson was killer. He had time to re-establish dribble and kick out.
X always wants to be the hero. Kick the ball out on that second to last possession. Instead he forces a terrible shot with three guys on him. He will never learn.
Did he lose track of time ? I just rewatched that shot and that’s the only possible explanation. He flat out stunk today and like the announcers said he never really established himself — mostly thanks to his foul trouble.
Murphy should be allowed to shoot 100% of the time when open in this offense, unless they are up by 10 late and winding clock. I've seen it multiple times this year late in games where he is either instructed not to shoot or is hesitant for whatever reason. Is he being coached not to shoot in those situations because he certainly doesn't seem to lack confidence. Otherwise, this offense ends up with Trey or X with an out of control drive to the hoop or a launched Trey three.
I'll admit that I am doubly pissed because I bet Pitt over 70 points. They scored 2 total points in the final 6 minutes of the first half and then 0 points in the final 3 minutes. Trey missing both FTs is simply terrible. I also didn't like the Pitt timeout after we took the lead and had all the momentum. I think it was after the Champagnie dunk.
Not to take blame away from where it belonged, but Murphy had shots he passed up.
Needless fouls, missed layups and selfish, stupid play with the ball were why we lost. Could have used a little help from the coach as well.
The second to last possession by X was one of the absolute dumbest things I’ve ever seen on a basketball court. This loss is on McGowens though, I seriously can’t even stand watching him play anymore.
An awful 4-15 from the field, a terrible 1-6 from beyond the arc, and an unacceptable 3-6 from the FT line. All of that was on display in the final minute also, chucks up a 3 even though he’s a terrible shooter that shouldn’t be attempting 3s at all. Bricks 2 FTs when we’re down 1. Then he tries to do it all himself through 3 defenders on the last possession.
No way in hell would I start McGowens on Wednesday night. At minimum I’d sit him to start the game just to send a message. Although I’d seriously consider giving him way less minutes on top of that.

Rather than that shot, why not call timeout. We had one left and I think we would have had 5-6 seconds.
You get your hopes up with this Pitt team and a loss like this at home just brings back all those terrible feelings from the last few seasons. This game has to be a win for a program trying to take a step forward from all the losing the last two years. No excuse to lose this game.
Hate to say it, but Trey and X are reminiscent of Artis and Young...... Except not half as good.
No, they're not. Artis and Young were more skilled but lazy and unwilling to defend.
