What round was Robert Foster picked in ?

I root for all WPIAL kids to make the NFL and be stars. Foster still might make it, but it's clear, he made thr wrong decision. If he would have went to Pitt, he would be cashing a 6 figure check in a couple weeks. Instead, he has to fight for his job back. He's lost at a minimum 1 year of earning potential, BAD CHOICE!

Robert Foster made a decision coming out of high school. HIS decision, what part of that is hard to understand. His decision not yours or mine. I feel sorry for each of your kids and their future decisions if they don't agree with yours.
There is never a bad decision when any young person gets an education and follows their dreams. I repeat their dreams. NOT YOURS!

You sure it was HIS decision? I'm not.

If Foster would have attended Pitt , like he wanted to, he would most likely would be getting ready to cash a $700,000 to $1,000,000 + signing bonus and playing for a similar annual salary. So let's say he missed out on $1,500,000 minimum.

So I hope daddy enjoys his $50,000 Escalade or whatever the hell he was rumored to get. His son missed out on BIG BUCKS. Although, given that Mississippi pays players I'm sure 'Bama is paying the going rate as well. The SEC , Paying top dollar for "Amateur College Students".

Why do you think it is a given that he'd be going pro if he came here? I was upset he didn't come here too but to say he'd most likely be going pro after his jr year is a bit of a reach.

I feel bad for him. He had to move between a lot of homes as a kid, and I think it was more his dad's decision than his.

What a bunch of losers. Foster would have been a big time player for Bama if not for a shoulder injury

Pretty much agree with this. Was a starting WR on the best team in the country and probably would have had a nice season. Hopefully for him the injury didn't set him back so much that he gets pushed back on the depth chart.

Not sure why everyone is constantly banging on him. Wish he would've gone to Pitt, but at least it wasn't PSU. If he stays healthy I expect to see him in the NFL as well.

What a bunch of losers......

I disagree.

I'm a Pitt fan. I want what's best for Pitt, and one of those things is that the best local players stay local and play for the Panthers.
Someone getting stars in their eyes, going away to a place like Alabama, and starring there doesn't help.

Make no mistake, Narduzzi is or will tell such recruits about Boyd playing and being a star here and getting drafted by an NFL team, vs Foster not playing there and putting up tweets saying should have listened to Mama.

Why are so many people hung up on where this kid went? Some of you people are pathetic. HE and his family decided to go to Alabama nobody else. How can people know that if he came to Pitt he would have been cashing 6 figure paychecks?

As Esther said, we are Pitt fans and want what is best for Pitt! It is hard to not want to go and play for a team like Bama that challenges for the NC every season.

Wasn’t it more likely that things happened the way they did with all the talent they bring in you have to fight for playing time and IF you get hurt you have to fight just to stay on the team?

His papa took chump change to send his kid to Bama and now looking back he could be cashing an NFL paycheck. I don’t know how things will turn out for this young man but hindsight is 20/20.

Anybody else a bit miffed that Boyd made little-to-no reference to Pitt in his comments after being drafted?? Or at least in what I saw on TV?? Same with a newspaper article. All about Clairton.

Would have, could have. Maybe if he would have come to Pitt he would not have gotten hurt. Who knows. But for you to say what you did is utter nonsense. I can say if he would have come to Pitt he would have been starting and show casing his skills and never got hurt. Seems you may be stretching your "bunch of losers" thing a bit.

No, the Pitt fans who keep bringing up Foster are absolutely a bunch of losers.

He was wearing blue and gold, and has made many positive comments about Pitt. The Nitter media in the area do a nice job of asking specific questions and editing the clips. Do u really think Mike White, Gorman, Cook, Adamski, Junker, etc. are going to do anything to build up Pitt?

im guessing if any Bama fans happened to come over here today and read this thread...they likely would spill their morning coffee all over themselves laughing so hard.

Some Pitt fans actually want to get into a dick measuring contest with Alabama.

Foster didnt pick WVU or Syracuse or even PSU over Pitt....he chose a true dynasty that recruits nationwide......

You people that continue to bring up Foster...and wish him nothing but the worst need to STFU.

Who's wishing the worst for Foster? We're at the point now where we can look back and evaluate decisions. I guess he has 2 more seasons to salvage a career, but through 3 seasons his decision has been an absolute failure.

Foster was a better athlete than Boyd and a MUCH more polished WR than Boyd coming out of HS. It's not a stretch to say that if Foster would have come to Pitt he would have started and been showcased as the #1 WR from day 1. I was one of the few who said Boyd would excel while Foster struggled at Bama. Foster is not on the Amari Cooper/Julio Jones level, so their offense will never be designed to run through him, like they did for the 2 I mentioned. At Pitt, he would have been fed the ball just as often as TB got. As I said earlier, I wish him the best and hope he makes it to the NFL and makes the WPIAL proud....but i'm not holding my breath. I don't want to see him living in Midland again getting involved in the drug scene there. He's come a long way from those days, and should leave his family members still there behind so he can move on.

Anyone know where he is on depth chart? Bama spring game was on but they are boring to watch, especially if it's not your team. Kid has two more years, plenty of time.

Facts are facts.
He was in the Bama starting rotation but wasn't used much at key times in the first three games before being injured in the Old Miss game. He had 10 catches for 116 yards with many of those catches coming later in games that were put away.
So he was in the lineup but not a difference maker or standoutWR.
Now he has to fight his way back in the lineup competing with lots of other younger talent and hope he stays injury free.
Everyone wishes him well but he's atleast two years behind and who know if luck isn't on his side.
He needs two good solid years. Had he come to PITT he would have been off to the NFL now.

Man, I've never rooted harder for a non-Pitt kid to have a monster year and be a first round pick. Fingers crossed.

Ditto for me. On that note, I am the 28th response to this thread. Why are there 26 others ahead of me? It was an idiotic thread that seems to be one of those topics that Pitt fans can't resist. It is also pathetic.

I think one of my issues with this topic (besides, you know, a bunch of supposedly grown-ass men obsessing over where a kid goes to college) is the underlying loser mentality among Pitt fans.

These threads always come down to "Hey, come to Pitt and play immediately because our roster is garbage."

Foster may yet be a draft pick. The recruits heading to other greener pastures ala ND or OSU don't go there thinking they may never start or play. Coaches fill them with unrealistic expectations and some swallow it. The risks of not becoming a big time player if offset with education. It is however what the coaches sell.

My issue is that is long passed. Who cares now? Just like the same people who tiresome brings up Ron Cook voting for Jason White and other past "grievances" against the Pitt program.

Then there is Penn State. BUT.....brace yourself, that is not dying. Sandusky is pushing for a new trial, will interview tomorrow on WPXI, so at least that tired topic will come back with some relevance.

Kids choose Stanford, Northwestern, Vandy or Duke amongst P5 conferences for academics. They choose the Ivy League or Academies for academics.

Foster has the opportunity to get a education and isn't that the most important issue or perk. Yes some go to IVY or more academic prestigious universities. In the end, Foster, however the final decision was made, is at Bama for better or worse.

Education??? Dreams??? Never heard of any WPIAL players say their dreams were to play for Alabama. $$$$$
