Whatever happened to the Hamlin/Ford package deal?

Could those Notre Dame teams have been worse too, or just played a bad game one day?

I mean certainly you don't believe a team plays the exact same every week? If Alabama from week 7 played Alabama from week 8 you are saying it'd be a never ending tie?
Sure, but we aren't talking about an one off game...
We are talking about a series of games.

Notre dame. Always has more talent than us.
I'm suggesting the gap isn't as big as some suggest... And if it is, our class of primarily 3 stars isn't closing it.

Sometimes a coaching staff has a bad day and makes mistakes, too.
It's not an indictment .

I saw a team unfocused and sleepwalking too much of the first half .Second halves demonstrated no big gap in talent .[/QUOTE]

and later in the same thread page three......from the same poster....

"Notre dame. Always has more talent than us".

And you expect others to take you seriously?

Yes, those are two different thoughts .
I'd expect others capable of holding more than a single thought in your head to grasp it.

More talent? Yes. A big gap in talent ? No.

Do you think Pitt had more talent than all 8 teams we played this year, or did we out strategize a couple ?

Other than this year and you could argue the loss in the title game, ND has been about the same as Pitt. Sure their rankings were way better but a lot of guys were overrated.

And that title game team , we should have beaten in their house.
We mostly dominated that game.
Which is my point .

We gave up 3 tds to fuller, that's the ballgame. Same way we slept walked against Unc and Miami in the first half .
It's okay.
Narduzzi in early returns is the best coach we've had In years.
But he's not without flaws or tendacies other coaches , who are also getting paid, know how to attack .

We did beat them. I will never consider that a loss. A gift phantom PI call and a gift no-call on 2 players with the same number right in front of the official. Prime example of one of the rare times that horrible officiating actually was the only deciding factor in the game. Notre Dame had no business being on the same field as Alabama that season.

Pitt may have been able to compete with a healthy DT or two. But ND exploited that big time and Pitt simply couldn't stop the run. As to the talent gap, ND had better talent but the matchups were heavily favored in ND's favor. Pitt could run on the Irish but the OC went away from the run. Not sorry he is gone but he did a good job overall with what he had to work with. Take away the NC QB and Pitt is in the hunt with NC. But NC was better. Miami was a bad day at the office. Nothing more.
Miami had way more talent but they typically play with little heart. Sometimes firing a coach fires kids up. MI will be a bitch going forward, ugh!
