Why am I watching this?

The hill is much steeper for football. We are capable of getting good enough talent in hoops to make NCAAT's where, once you get in, anything can happen. We'll be lucky to make a college football playoff once a generation. But we need a hoops coach capable of more than just rolling the ball out there.
It's depressing seeing what we get from the bench compared to watching Ole Miss tonight with Brad Beard. Beating two top 5 opponents in the same season for the first time in program history. Not otherworldly on that team. Just well prepared and executed play.

I bet against Pitt for race to 10 points - easiest money bet around

Also took NCSU moneyline

I posted it on the other thread but Capel was asked about college athletes gambling this week and it made me think if there are some who believe these slow starts can be explained in that way. Their talent level is as good or better than most teams they play but they always get down early and trail at halftime. I doubt there's anyone who tracks this, but they have to be one of the worst 1st 10 minutes of the 1st Half team in recent college basketball memory. Its just so bizarre.

No one’s investing in the duds running the FB and BB programs….there aren’t going to be resources to funnel to players unless Pitt will be paying the freight. The major men’s programs are both floating precariously on life rafts tied to anchors provided courtesy of Heather Lyke.
Then why will it ever change ?

It’s definitely cheaper to assemble a Bb team and it’s amazing how much better the coaches are when they have better talent .

Unless money magically appears I don’t see how anything changes in either sport .

I really wouldn't be too surprised by a betting scandal, with someone placing bets against Pitt having a lead at halftime. They really seem lethargic in the first half compared to second halves. I don't feel like looking it up, but it seems that even in a lot of their wins they were losing at the half.

It won’t until Pitt can afford to rid itself of the dead weight. You pay a hefty price for poor decision making…..It’s called running in place…in quicksand of your own making..
The history of Pitt athletics has small windows of excellence with mediocrity being the norm . Now that money is the major factor that determines your roster expecting anything other than small windows of success is wishful thinking.

History doesn’t determine your future unless you repeat the same stupid mistakes. Your vision contemplates Pitt repeating the mistakes borne out of incompetence and indifference. Your vision is fir Pitt to just surrender. No one buying into that vision.

Pitt can compete at a high level in basketball. It's not really possible in football. Even Clemson & FSU have started to pull back and accepted their fate as irrelevant programs as long as they are in the ACC.

In 19 ACC games, they have only lead at halftime in 3. Stanford, Wake (huh?), and Miami. They were tied with ND.

Words cannot explain this. I mean, sure, this Pitt team isn't very good but it's nearly impossible to not just luck into more halftime leads than this. This is the worst the ACC has ever been. The teams they are playing aren't good. By dumb luck, you figure a few times they make 6 of their 1st 10 shots or the other team comes out cold. To only have the lead in 3 of 19 games makes me wonder.

The previous two seasons were very successful making the tournament and then getting screwed last yr . I’d take that level of performance going forward .

Why is it not surprising that the next to the last person to get off the Kevin Stallings bandwagon thinks that making the play in game and missing the tournament entirely in two seasons is "very successful"?

Let's just put it this way. The people running the show don't think that the last two seasons were "very successful". And they think that this season is a borderline disaster. And since they aren't idiots, they know whose fault it is.

Because that is the reality of Pitt Bb . You can continue to live in some fantasy world where you believe Pitt should be a top ten team in the country .

Why do you continue this KS bullshit . I just didn’t believe they’d write the check just like I don’t believe they’ll write the check to get rid of JC .

You need a life !

Horse muffins!

FB shouldn’t be losing to Toledo; Virginia; and BB shouldn’t be losing to: Virginia; GT; ND; and NCSt. Not this year.

You probably are just dumb enough to think that the only two choices are either barely getting in or barely missing the tournament and finishing in the top ten.

And I continue reminding you that you thought right up to the bitter end that Kevin Stallings was a good coach who was going to be successful at Pitt, long after just about everyone else realized that that was ridiculous, because it shows that in matters like this you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You didn't just think that Pitt wouldn't write the check. You thought that Pitt didn't need to write the check, that if they just left Stallings alone he was going to be successful here. And you thought that even after the 0-fer was completed.

But as I have said before, I get why you don't want people reminded of that and why you feel the need to lie about it. I'd be embarrassed if I thought something that dumb too.
