It depends on where exactly the ref was. If he was more towards the center then he could have been shielded by the player's body. If he was on that side of the box then he should have been able to see it.
Because it was done by the thigh while on his knees it was less obvious than a foot.
Is quite possibly the single greatest result of this final is not having to watch those insipid NFL pregame shows???
This is without a doubt one of the best games in along time with both teams finding some reserve energy to push and push the pace.

I have not watched one of those pregame shows in (at least) 20 years. Bunch of guys yapping about the same talking points that don’t know any more than the average fan for the most part.
The only problem is that the bastards changed the game times a couple years ago. That late Sunday game used to start at 11:00 our time, so it was over just in time to change the channel to the NFL game. Now they start at 11:30 so there is a half hour of run over.
This last 40 minutes of game time has been just completely bonkers!
DiMaria on the bench is showing you exactly why this is the greatest event ever. He is so emotional and it just shows you what this game means.
That cross missing the runner's head and sneaking in at the far post would have been a perfect ending.
I am trying to think of a more exciting sporting event in my 45 years. I can't and I am not that much of a soccer (football) fan.
So....obviously I never saw Pele.........especially in his prime. I am guessing watching Mbape is like watching a young Pele

As a non-soccer fan, this has to be considered the greatest World Cup game ever, no? Definitely the best soccer game I’ve ever seen. Lots of scoring, back-and-forth, the biggest names having huge games.
