Going from this to watching Trubisky vs Darnold is going to be a jarring experience
I’d say a free throw with little to no time on the clock when tied or down 1 would be comparable.
Game-winning field goal attempt with a title on the line as well.
Should be extra time with sudden death, but I’m not sure I have a voice since I don’t follow soccer. Just my opinion.

A championship feels like it should be won in game play and not a skills competition. NHL playoff sudden death overtime is excellent.
I thought of that as well, my thinking is that taking a PK in that situation is more of a mental pressure than anything.

Comparable to NHL, shootouts to end ties during the regular season are fine but it has to be sudden death for the playoffs.
Would like it to be the same way for soccer but with the typical low scoring, no telling when a match may end. There’ve been some long Stanley cup playoff games but potential to be a good bit longer in soccer.
And think of the players. After running 6 miles in the 1st 90 minutes, just not practical.

Nah. I love PKs. There is no other pressure than a PK. The keeper rarely saves it and when they do it is amazing. And there is so much pressure that the top players can sky one into the crowd.

It wasn’t a great World Cup. But that ended up being a dream final. The scumbags at FIFA came out smelling like a rose after 1000’s died in the oppressive country that was awarded host.
You just said as to why I think they’re not that special….the keeper rarely saves it. Just seems like they too easy so there isn’t as much pressure on the kicker as is being made out here. At least there shouldn’t be.

That was honestly one of the weirdest "celebrations" I've seen at any sporting event. Although, he will be remembered forever.

I really think if the ref had any nads he would have thrown a yellow at Martinez for tossing the ball away from the kicker. He is just an ass.
There were a ton of "blah" games, where the favorite jumped out to a lead relatively early and the game was rarely in doubt.
But man, today tried to make up for that.
