What has stood out to me is Pitt's 125 service aces (2.19/set) versus the opposition's 43 service aces (0.75/set).....a 3 to 1 advantage. Not many teams have that differential. For instance Louisville....our next opponent....produces 1.27 service aces/set but gives back 1.26 service aces/set.....so that part of their game is a zero advantage.I don't think we received serves as well last year. It's still not stellar but it's a bit of give and take. Libero play is better but SMU absolutely dominated Pitt in that game in Dallas. Bad night? Found a hole? We'll see. Also, Babcock is a little more consistent this year. Power servers will always have a higher error rate but it's better. Would also add that Flood and VVG have been around long enough that they should be pretty good at serving, LOL.
It just happened at the last Stillers game. Big fake boobed girl with tats everywhere.Since I seen a streeker at a ball game. Used to see some beautiful women do it and every now and then a goofy man even ones with not much to show off. Put all fans in a good mood even if the team was losing. Kind of a shame we lost this playful art. One of many.
Strength of record is not the best tool.
Can you show me one study done showing strength of record is a good predictor of future success?
You keep wanting to pretend like your power poll ranking is of no significance except for gambling.
And that’s right to the extent that you would want to know the chances of future success, when betting on a game that hasn’t happened.
And that is the value of power poll analytics. They are the best predictor of future success.
You saw that play out last night. For weeks now Bill Connelly has been talking about how Liberty better start playing like an undefeated team if they want to stay undefeated and make the playoffs. Because the analytics have them outside the Top 70.
Welp. The results matched it last night.
It matters to Vegas. It shouldn't matter when picking a tournament unless used as a tiebreaker. Stength of record is the best tool. Its your record relative to your SOS. And this looks about right with PSU #5 and Pitt #9. Honestly, I do not think Pitt is only 4 spots worse than PSU but we have the same record vs very similar teams. I hate when I hear but this team is blowing people out. So what. That's for the gamblers and I said we can use it for an 8th tiebreaker between 2 teams. The goal is to win the game by 1.

Speaking of uni's ... I really got "nostalgic" watching the Stillers on Sunday Night Football. Wearing the home uni's with the block white numbers brought back memories of Bradshaw/Harris/Mean Joe Greene/Jack Lambert/Lynn Swann, et al ... I never "got" the reason for why the Steelers had to reinvent the uniform of the '70's? Green Bay still makes theirs work, as well as the Cowboys and many others ...While I think it’s cool to be in alternate uniforms, I understand the “establish the brand” moniker. We’ve been so poor with it throughout our history. Really poor. As I said in another thread, if we were to wear Dino throwbacks tonight, half the country wouldn’t even realize it was anything different. That’s a problem. Penn st has worn middle school practice uniforms for their entire history. But when they play people know it’s them.
I personally like the Marino era colors. That’s the Pitt I fell in love with. And I understand young students who like the Notre dame and Akron wannabe uniforms. But I embrace what we have now because it’s cool, it’s unique (essentially), it pops, and we should ride with it forever.
You do know why it just “faded into the ether”, right? They just glazed over the locker room "group" sex act and it faded into the ether. Just
He seemed a bit stiff. The video with Duzz seemed more telling.
No matter how many times you say it, the committees (basketball and football) are NOT charged with picking the teams with the best resumes, they are charged with picking the best teams. And you can't do that, in either sport, without looking at margin of victory.
If you want proof of that you don't need to look back any further than last year. If all they were looking at was resumes then Florida State clearly and obviously belonged in the playoff. But they don't just look at resumes, they look at which was the better team. And that that moment it was also clearly and obviously not Florida State.
And the funny thing is that you claim to think that it should be only about the resumes and that the better team shouldn't enter into it, and yet you also, many many times, proclaim that they made the correct choice last year when they left out Florida State. Because it is abundantly clear that you have really firm convictions about some things, right up until the exact second when you decide that you think exactly the opposite. And which in no way means that you won't flip back at a moment's notice.
This, plus its a story that gets the NBA big news coverage early in the season, no one is talking about an October Lakers-Timberwolves game if the kid isn't playing a few minutes.I'm guessing, and it is just a guess, that they put him on the roster at the beginning of the season specifically so that he could play a couple games with his father, maybe assist his one of his dad's baskets and get an assist from his dad. And then once they get all those firsts out of the way they will announce that they are sending him down so that he can get some playing time and develop his game.
If they sent him down right away everyone would keep asking, when are we going to see Bronny, when will Bronny get to play with his dad, and all that. Now that part of it is over, and perhaps at some point the actual basketball will take over.
As other posters have said, the popularity of women's volleyball is reaching epic numbers. I could very easily see scores of fans subscribing to ESPN+ today or tomorrow to watch this ONE game. And then, they'd be set for any future games that will appear on ACCNxAgain, not understanding. I meant there isn't one person paying to subscribe to ESPN+ tonight specifically for this ONE game.
