Michigan/Kentucky

Not going to go off on why they have to play in London.......but it was a pleasure to turn it on and see Hunter Dickinson and Oscar Tshiebwe and immediately be able to identify them and who they are.

This is my biggest issue with college BB now, just too much turnover. One maybe positive with NIL is those fringe NBA players, maybe this keeps them in college longer.

Time to share Jordan Addision story. It’s not a big deal.

So I am originally from Imperial, graduated from West Allegheny in 1997, (God bless Tyler Palko), Pitt undergrad and Duquesne Law. My legal career brought my to Frederick MD 20 years ago. I live in the Tuscarora school district, where Jordan Addison starred in High School.

Jordan has a huge extended family. And during his time at Pitt, I ran into many family members who hailed me while wearing Pitt gear. All positive things to say about Pitt and Jordan’s experience.

I also practice criminal law, and I happened to represent one of his many uncles for some serious charges. I won’t get into the details, it’s public record that I represented him so that is the extent I’ll get into. My client had tremendous support. They would show up to court wearing Pitt masks! All positive talk about Pitt.

When he left, the extended family members I spoke with were shocked and disappointed. He was now infatuated with the money, the lifestyle. It had little to do with with Pitt, and almost everything to do with LALA Land.

None of this is new, but I just wanted to share my experiences with people connected with him.

Recruiting Update Update on Jordan Bass

A few things on Pitt commit Jordan Bass:

- Yes, schools are still in pursuit, and as long as that's the case, we have to keep an eye on him (plus, he's the best prospect in the class). But from what I've been told, Bass and his father have been pretty consistent in telling other schools that he is committed to Pitt.

- Now, actions always speak louder than words, of course, and the key thing to watch will be whether or not he takes a visit. But there's some relevant info to consider here. Phoebus High School beat Lake Taylor on Saturday 42-16 - good score for that day - to advance to the semifinals of the state playoffs.

Now the Phantoms will face Brentsville District High School in the semis, and that game will be played this Saturday at 2 pm. If Phoebus wins, they will advance to the state championship game, which will be played next Saturday (12/10) at Liberty University with a kickoff at noon. Why am I saying all of this? Because these two games - assuming Phoebus makes it to the finals - will pretty much eliminate the possibility of taking an official visit this weekend or next weekend. I mean, it's not impossible, but it is highly unlikely.

If those two weekends are eliminated, that leaves just one weekend for a potential official visit before Signing Day on Dec. 21. Of course, that assumes he signs in December, which is my assumption at this point.

- So for now things look pretty solid, or at least as solid as any recruiting situation ever is. And like any other recruiting situation, things can always change. But that's how it looks right now.

- In the meantime, check out this highlight reel from the quarterfinals game on Saturday. It's all really good, but the play Bass makes at the 2:30 mark really is something else.

ESPN Analytics?

ESPN Analytics still predicts Pitt has only a 22.2% chance to beat Vanderbilt.

Sagarin's computer (which usually predicts close to what the Vegas odds makers will do) would have Vandy by only about 1 point (based only on the Home Court Advantage).

This seems like a disconnect--probably too much emphasis by ESPN Analytics on Pitt's early games? If ESPN Analytics were closer to Sagarin's computer Pitt would probably have an over 40% chance of winnnig, I would expect.

It will be interesting to see which prediction the odds makers will be closer to favoring when they release their opening line in a day or two.

Why don't they open the transfer portal until after the Bowl games?

These bowl games are becoming the JV rewards game. NFL prospects all sit out, players leave for perceived greener pastures and the team is a shell of what was the regular season roster. What was once a reward for a good to great season and a spring board into the off season and pre-season rankings is now even more meaningless than before. I remember the good old days of Marino to Brown in the Sugar that set up expectations for the 1982 season... And they want us to spend hard earned money during the Holidays to go watch back-ups play?
